what else is new?

in 2007 we beat ku, finish ahead of them in the standings, yet they got the orange bowl.

in 2008 we beat nebraska, finish ahead of them in the standings, yet they got the gator bowl.

in 2009 we beat iowa state, finish ahead of them in the standings, yet they get the insight bowl.

really unless we ever win the big 12 championship, were always gonna be a step or two below where we should be. its not fair, but the big 12 blows and so do the bowl selection committees.

I've been hearing Iowa Orange Bowl rumblings. I'd much prefer that to the Fiesta Bowl anyway.

Yeah sounds pretty close to official now. I'd rather have Fiesta. Never been there plus it would have more appeal and higher tv ratings.

The TCU-Boise St. idea is one of the dumber ones I think I've heard. It figures that the BCS is going to screw both of those teams by having them play each other.

Which pretty much guarantees it's going to happen. Can't let the smaller schools beat a bigger conference team.

I'm hoping the fact that they played last year in the bowls means that they switch around the matchups after all the picks have been made (which is possible under the contract of the BCS). That's especially true when they can make two compelling games by just switching one team. The best matchups I think would be to switch Cincy to the Fiesta bowl and have them play Boise (last one with the ball wins) and put TCU in the Sugar and let them see what they can do with Florida.

And if you don't want to do that, you can switch Boise instead and put them in the Sugar which leaves a TCU-Cincy matchup for the Fiesta.

A third alternative would be to let all of them play who they were supposed to originally. Boise with Iowa, Cincy with Florida (or GA Tech), TCU with Ga Tech (or Florida). That lets the 3 big football schools play the 3 smaller football schools.

All of those would be better than TCU-Boise, which would just leave confusion on how good either of them are even after the game.

I agree it's a horrible decision but I don't think that's the basis for it. Supposedly the Fiesta thinks Boise/TCU would be a huge ratings draw and are willing to take that even if they lose out on some attendance.

It is pretty ridiculous. I'd be in favor of a rule that prevents lower teams jumping higher teams, but it's not in the interest of the bigger schools so it probably won't happen. I'm not a fan of how this conference is being run at all.

The long-awaited MAC bowl pairings:

Ohio/Marshall in Pizza Bowl

Temple/UCLA in EagleBank Bowl (unless Army beats Navy, which is unlikely, in which case, Army replaces UCLA)

Bowling Green/Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl

Northern Illinois/USF in International Bowl

Central Michigan/Troy in GMAC Bowl

I bet the advertisers are drooling over this one

I thought Ohio/Marshall was an even better one. Two nothing teams that are nowhere near the site of the bowl. No one is going to that game.

For the life of me I can't figure out who benefits from a Boise/TCU Fiesta Bowl. Not going to complain about a BCS bid but was hoping for the Fiesta with Boise. Orange Bowl won't be all that appealing nationally, plus the date will hurt attendance. Hopefully it doesn't have a lasting affect on Iowa's bowl rep. The Fiesta would have had 40,000 Iowa fans. Orange could be half of that.

Yeah, NIU should be heading to the Pizza Bowl. They would've drawn much more than either of those two teams.

NIU in Canada is intriguing. A holiday trip up there would be pretty interesting, although USF will more than likely win that game by 17-20 points.

I was up there two years ago when Ball State played in the International Bowl. It's a really good time. Toronto is a great city, and they do a good job with the bowl.
