can't wait for that lawsuit!

I thought there was no way you were this dumb but then I realized you are an Illinois fan so now I'm not sure.

i just called the fcc and you're going down for this one, buddy

seriously, you better get out of your house right now because the fcc is gonna break your door down any minute

I'm shakin in my boots.

Like I said the FCC would never do it but they could if they really wanted. Maybe you don't know how brutal they are. They once fined an Indiana high school (Beech Grove?) almost $20,000 for missing a station id. This was a station solely run by high school students and didn't really sell ads or anything. It was solely there to get high school students experience. That radio station closed after the fine. The FCC ignores some things and cracks the whip on others. Some of the fines they hand out are borderline criminal.

The amount that this story isn't true is immeasurable.

If you don't know then just shut up. That story was told in my media law class and showed a power point with the specific letter from the FCC. If you were to just do a little research you would find that the FCC regularly fines high school stations, and all other stations, for relatively minor faults. High school stations tend to have more minor infractions than a professional radio station due to inexperienced DJ's and the such. The FCC doesn't tend to show leiniance towards high school stations and treat them like they would any other station.

Anyways back to the NBA ... Scola ended up averaging 20-10 for the month of March (20.6-10.5 to be exact). Also Martin returned tonight for the Rockets and they go on to be blown out by 31 by the Pacers. Awesome. We are 11-12 since he was acquired.

So it's not the completely different story that Kyle linked then?

Can you point me in the right direction or did this former mailroom employee of the FCC sign the same confidentiality agreement all your sources do.

I'm pretty sure it was Beech Grove High School but I could care less to try and find the specific one that was talked about in my class form two years ago. Also it isn't my source. It was my professors. He got a copy of the letter either from the school or through the FCC where he used to work.

According to the FCC and the various media outlets, the amount of the fine was $7,000, not $20,000. It was for filing it's license late, not forgetting a station ID.

So, as usual, you're wrong.

He could be talking about a different incident. Unverifiable to this point.

Beech Grove High School does not appear to have a radio station.

One would think that slapping a $20k fine on a Podunk IN high school radio station would garner just a little bit of attention, though.

Uh yeah I said from the start I wasn't sure of the school or amount. I knew it was a high school in or around Indy and that the fine was thousands.

They fine dozens of high schools thousands of dollars every year so it's not unique.

But you're 9-9 in games he's played in, and 29-29 in games he hasn't.

Yeah but you have to take into account we had a decent player that we weren't using at all that was part of the trade. If we had utilized T-Mac (I understand why we didn't) and played him 20-30 minutes a night we would have likely won more games.

Also Martin hasn't done anything other than score well. He isn't great on defense, hasn't gotten steals or blocks, has a horrendous assist/turnover ratio for a guard and is only getting 3 rebounds a game.

$1,000 fine for missing station ID= almost $20,000.

I almost make $100,000,000 per year with this math.

The Nets are reportedly going to offer Coach K a boatload of money to become their next head coach. I dont see it happening. If he wouldnt leave for the Lakers, why the hell would he leave for the Nets?

That's for missing it once. If you have inexperienced DJ's who don't know the seriousness of playing them and thus you miss it multiple times you can rack up a huge fine. The FCC will fine you for each miss if they happen to be listening and they can sit and listen for weeks counting each miss. There is no protocol to my knowledge.

Unless he has gotten bored a coach who has been somewhere as long as he has and been as successful as he has isn't going to leave. Coach K has likely turned down offers many times because he is perfectly content at Duke. I would never make the job myself in his situation. He can choose when to retire and stay however long he wants at Duke. If he goes to the NBA and flames out which is pretty likely just by overall percentages he then is left going back to college to a school he never wanted to coach anyways (assuming Duke isn't open again).

But none of this happened.

Oh and I wouldn't mind an FCC split, cause I definitely don't want that topic to die, but I need the full spotlight on me when the Celtics steamroll the Cavs in the 2nd round

Okay, I was gonna let this go and not pollute the thread. But I did some digging, and my sources aren't secret.

I e-mailed Mike Shannon, who runs IndianaAirwaves.com, which covers news involving the Indiana radio scene. They've been covering the $7,000-case that I brought up and you said wasn't the one you are talking about. I asked him if he knew how common it was for Indiana high school stations to be fined by the FCC. This was his response. Bold added.

Kyle....

It is a very rare thing. In my 30+ years in radio, this is the first that I can remember. You could visit the FCC website at fcc.gov

The media bureau is the place to start. Good luck in your quest.
