they go so far as to say that they believe that the bulls have their guns loaded for a run at two max FA's

They don't have their guns loaded. Mainstream media people do not understand the rules of the NBA's salary cap, so no one should listen to what they say. Unless the Bulls make some miraculous and creative trades, they aren't remotely close to having room for two max free agents. If Salmons opts in for 2010, they may not even have room under the cap for one max guy.

I didn't hear any of this on the radio, but as much as Bernstein irritates me, basketball acumen a strongpoint for him. I have a hard time believing he doesn't understand the NBA salary cap rules.

yeah, bernstein's definitely not a meatball, and his sources are better than ours. i doubt he'd just say something to say it, if anything, he'd be saying "yeah, the bulls have no chance to sign lebron or wade or bosh or stoudamire" to get the meatballs to call in and provide everyone with countless hours of entertainment. that's his mo.

i thought wrigley22 laid out what would have to happen fairly well. they'll have enough space for one even with kirk and salmons.

With no trades and a Salmons opt-in, a max free agent would put the Bulls at around $57 million in salaries. The cap isn't set yet, but it's estimated that it would be around $54-55 million.

Yep. There's still the possibility that they don't have room for even one max. They'll have to make a move or two to ensure it.

boers and bernstein keep pissing me off and getting my hopes up by mentioning the L word when it comes to the offseason. they go so far as to say that they believe that the bulls have their guns loaded for a run at two max FA's, and generally b and b are the most cynical sports radio personalities in chicago.

dear lord, i can't wait for the offseason, even if they whiff, it's bound to be interesting.

I know that if Bulls management had their way they would get rid of Hinrich and/or Salmons/Deng during the season for expiring and go after 2 max FAs. Everything I've read suggests that. Of course that could destroy this years team, which in turn makes our team less desirable.

Who knows, it's gonna be a crazy interesting offseason.

All in all, I'd say the only real snub was Josh Smith, at the expense of either Rose or one of his own teammates.

Rose clearly belongs, but I think Hortford is the one who prolly shouldn't have gone.

They should be there. Iverson is what screws it all up.

Iverson is going?

I just figured he would decline. It's comical for him to be there.

AI official quote about being voted into the game:

"I just want to thank everybody for their support this season and it's an honor that the fans have voted me into the All-Star Game as a starter," Iverson said. "The fans are who make us and make the NBA so popular. This year is even more special because that I'll be representing a city and fans that I love and a team that has been such a big part of my life throughout my career."

So yeah, I think he's going even tho he doesn't deserve to be there.

Man, that series with the Celtics last year would have been a lot different if Deng had been there like he's playing this year.

Maybe....but it wasn't really the offense that was the problem for the Bulls in that series.
