The only problem is that Burrell is a DH and the Cubs play in the NL. (please don't tell me that Burrell can play the OF)

Why not? He can play the OF. He just doesn't play it very well.

I have absolutely no interest in Burrell and I doubt the Cubs do either. Upton is a guy I expect Hendry to target. I'd deal Cashner and a B prospect for him.

What about if the Cubs didn't trade Bradley? I hate that everyone hates him. Now we get all this complete [expletive] theories about "Bradley for ".

It's pretty much irreconcilable at this point. The fact that Hendry had to suspend him for 2 weeks, and the fact that the Cubs players did anything but defend Bradley after the suspension shows that there is a lot going on behind the scenes. Bradley will never get on the fans good side, or even to the point where the fans and him can co-exist which will lead to many more depressing Bradley outbursts that threaten to shake up next year's team.

Burrell would make 9.2M next year, with no more years beyond that. If they're intent on trading Bradley, this isn't a terrible move. He is just a horrendous OF though.

Except I'm sure the Cubs would have to throw in $$$ to cover most of what Bradley would make in 2011.

I'd do Burrell for Bradley straight up if Tampa would do that (no money going the other way). Then we could flip Burrell back to another AL team much easier that we could move Bradley to anyone else without swallowing most of the remaining 20 mil he's owed.

according to WSCR, this is more than speculation, and Tampa is still interested in Bradley. I really think this is the best thing we could get if we traded Bradley.Or maybe we could put together a bigger package for Crawfor or Upton, depending on who they decide to move, if either.

Go for the bigger package.

The problem is the package would likely consist of at least Bradley, Vitters, 1 of Cashner/Jackson/Carpenter and probably another prospect, and wed probably turn either guy into Juan Pierre.

That wouldn't be so bad if we were able to get Crawford to agree to a two/three-year deal as part of the trade.

I concur 100%

I'm not 100% sure, but if all of the involved players have cleared waivers, I think they can still be traded. At this point the wouldn't be eligible for the post season rosters, but the Cubs and TB aren't going anywhere anyway. I'm almost positive the can be traded if they have passed through waivers.

I'm pretty sure everyone is talking offseason trades.

Oh, I realize that. I actually quoted the wrong person. Someone had mentioned that it would be a couple of months before we knew anything, and I was just pointing out that, in this circumstance, it might still be possible for it to go down quickly. Not that it would, just that it is possible.

Done. It's not those prospects would turn into superstars with the cubs. Because if the cubs can turn proven players into bad players they would turn those prospects into really bad players.

I doubt the rays would want Vitters anyway. They would probably want Castro since they are already are set at the corner infield spots for the forseeable future.

Sell them on Barney. Which is unlikely, but worth a shot.
