according to WSCR, this is more than speculation, and Tampa is still interested in Bradley. I really think this is the best thing we could get if we traded Bradley.Or maybe we could put together a bigger package for Crawfor or Upton, depending on who they decide to move, if either.

Go for the bigger package.

The problem is the package would likely consist of at least Bradley, Vitters, 1 of Cashner/Jackson/Carpenter and probably another prospect, and wed probably turn either guy into Juan Pierre.

Done. It's not those prospects would turn into superstars with the cubs. Because if the cubs can turn proven players into bad players they would turn those prospects into really bad players.

I doubt the rays would want Vitters anyway. They would probably want Castro since they are already are set at the corner infield spots for the forseeable future.

Sell them on Barney. Which is unlikely, but worth a shot.

Selling them on Sam Fuld for David Price is worth a shot, but wont amount to anything.

I really don't want to trade Castro under almost any circumstance. Crawford? Yeah, assuming he'd give us a long term deal. Upton? Nope, not right now anyway.

I was just looking at Crawford's contract and it seems as though the Rays have a 2010 club option for $10 million or a buyout for $2.5. So if they're looking to cut payroll, they could just make him a free agent.

Am I reading that correctly. That seems like a pretty huge deal for the Cubs' off-season plans.

If there's anywhere where the cubs could give up a quality prospect it's in the middle infield is really all I'm saying. I'd really like to keep Castro but if someone asked about him I wouldn't hang up the phone on them either.

Crawford has a lot of value, there's no reason to not pick up the option when they can pick it up and trade him.

Expand the deal to get Upton.

Bradley, prospect(s) for Burrel and Upton?

Definitely more speculation, we wont hear the real stuff for 2 months or so.

I doubt it. Everyone knows the Cubs are desperate, and will treat Hendry as such.

If Hendry pulls of anything even remotely decent for Bradley, it'll be a miracle, partly because Bradley is a nutcase and few will have anything to do with him, and partly because he's Jim Hendry.

Burrell: RF

Soriano:LF

Fukudome: CF

Upton:???

Do people think Upton can still play 2b? Or that Pat Burrell could play the hardest outfield position at Wrigley?

My question is....can Upton play SS like he did in the minors? I mean his range factor in the minors was no different then Derek Jeter's and alot of people in the media seemed to think Jeter is a fine defensive SS.

He actually got a good return for Todd Freaking Hundley. If he gets a good return for Bradley, it'll be a nice move, but not that big of a miracle. As bad as he is, Bradley has to have more value than Hundley did.
