Bradley can complain about the media setting traps for him all they want, but since it's been happening to him for so long you'd think he'd get a bit better at avoiding them. It sucks that it's come to this, but I'm not going to get too mad at Hendry. You have to take a stand every once in a while.

It doens't take took much moxie to suspend a guy who is an absolute tool when you are totally out of the playoff race

I'd be more upset with the Cubs if it weren't for Bradley's history. I find it hard to pin much blame on the Cubs themselves. If you want to point a finger at the media, sure, that's reasonable. But the Cubs themselves gave Milton a very nice contract and a fresh start. He's the one who blew that. Not the organization. They've put up with plenty from him this season.

Point is, Bradley has done things like this over and over again. He's the one to blame here.

quote from Hendry:

"I just decided late last night that's what I was going to do, and I didn't give it a lot of thought what's going to transpire moving forward," Hendry said. "I just felt like it was time to do this."

...so basically Hendry admits he made an emotional decision without thinking about how his action would affect the future.

Who cares. This needed to be done.

People who hate Bradley are at least partially racist, and at least partially don't know anything about baseball.

I hope that is a joke Jimmy Carter.

Well, it looks like Bradley gets to be the scapegoat this season. It's a shame, there are plenty better options...

Seriously? This doesn't really have anything to do with him being a "scapegoat". Stop trying to defend him when he's clearly been out of line. He's acting like a a piece of garbage and he's getting punished for it.

At this point I don't think people are even blaming Milton for the disappointing season the team has had. They're giving him crap because of how he's acting.

I would not be the least bit surprised if Milton Bradley's baseball career was over.
I would. Somebody will trade a bag of baseballs for him if the Cubs pay most of his contract, and Hendry would do that if the alternative were to release him, get nothing, and still have to pay all of his contract above the minimum.

Why does anyone care whether Bradley blames himself, his teammates, the fans, the media, or dinosaurs for what happens? It doesn't matter, and he's been one of the most vocal guys blaming himself for his own shortcomings. His problem came when he started hitting and people still came after him at every turn. But because he's crazy he communicates frustration at that in the worst way possible and people hate him still. Bradley got off to a horrible start, and straightened himself out to have an okay season. That's all that matters. But because Paul Sullivan and a bunch of fans can't come off the "Bradley is a crazy headcase who molests collies" angle, that is apparently irrelevant.

Because of you great statistical analysis in the past, I refuse to believe that you are being serious. Bradley had become a major distraction for the team. If you are a player and you don't like the fans or your teammates fine, but you really need to have some respect for yourself and keep your mouth shut at the appropriate times. It is all part of the deal. I don't think Hendry deserves a lot of credit, because he was the guy that brought Bradley here in the first place, and the season is over for the Cubs anyways.

If you're going to stay out of it, why do you post something so colossally stupid in the next sentence.

The guy is a bitch. He came in with an attitude, didn't play up to his contract, and then blamed everyone but himself. But yeah, it's because he's black. Or I'm an idiot. It must be one of those two.

I don't know which is worse. The people who dislike Bradley for the wrong reasons, or the people who are determined to give him a free pass and blame everything on the media and fans.

Did the media have a lot to do with this? Of course. Are they most to blame? No, not even close. Milton Bradley is a professional athlete who CHOSE to sign in Chicago. He's getting paid to not only play baseball, but to play it in this city... knowing full well the scrutiny he'd be under the second he signed here.

Right. Just because it was a rash decision doesn't mean it was a wrong one.

LOL

I certainly don't hate him at all. The only thing I hate more than the people who blamed him for everything are the people who make Milton the victim of evil, racist fans and bullies in the media.

He's not a victim. He's a douche of the highest order who is doing everything in his power to get himself traded this offseason. And he underperformed this year.

We will see I guess. Somebody might give him a shot next year, but I dont see Bradley changing. My guess is that he is pretty much done.

Are you trying to be the Glenn Beck of NSBB? This is one of the dumbest posts on this board in a long time. Racist? There is nothing racist about not liking a guy that can't keep his mouth shut and throws a pity party for himself every time things don't go his way. Calling his suspension racist, demeans all of the minorities that actually faced and still face real racism.

I completely agree. It is just sad that Bradley couldn't quit when he was ahead. Sometimes you have to have thicker skin. There was a famous writer that said something to the effect of "only two things can ruin a writer's career 1. listing to criticism 2. listening to praise." Bradley became too concerned about what every one else thought about him, when he should have just played the game.

There's a lot of blame to go around in this whole mess. Unfair fan expectations because of the mythical "left handed power bat" fascination, Hendry making Bradley a huge contract offer, the media's interest in writing/reporting Bradley stories, Bradley's slow start, and his ultimately his frustration from a disappointing season boiling over the past few weeks.

It is not shocking that Bradley's time with the Cubs will not work out, but I think most rational Cub fans were still hoping otherwise.

I'm black.

I'm sick of Milton Bradley.

Thanks for pointing out that this weird feeling I've had lately is one of self-loathing.

I can't wait for the Cubs to trade him for pennies on the dollar and then for Bradley to hit .330 for another team next year

lololol

yeah, you're right, he's totally going to hit .250 every year from now on
