yeah, i almost don't care anymore. there's no way this team wins a cup this year so it's kind of pointless worrying about how far they go.

it's amazing how much interest i've lost in this team over the past month or two.

hopefully they get booed off the ice tonight.

A week ago they were tied for the best record in the conference. Yes they are playing terribly, but from the stats I have seen, it doesn't matter how well you play going into the playoffs. Being hot or cold near the playoffs is not indicative of playoff performance.

come on. even kyle isn't using these arguments anymore.

this team has been mediocre forl ike 2 months. they have been a different team since the wild game. arguing against that just makes it looks like you haven't been paying attention to the team.

The playoffs are a weird animal. It's possible that the Hawks don't win again in the regular season and then turn on a switch of some kind. It's hard to be optimistic right now though.

Yes, but only two teams have given up fewer goals in the NHL. With that said, you can't really win the Stanley Cup with below average goaltending. What could they have given up for Vokoun?

hawks last 30 games: -4

so for a stretch that's over 2/3 of the regular season, the hawks have a negative goal differential.

it's no longer just "playing terrible right now". it's more like "this team hasn't been good in almost 3 months".

It's almost easier when we just have a shitty goalie to blame. What a lethargic effort. And I hate to say it but Toews was the Grand Marshal of the [expletive] Parade tonight.

is it a coincidence that the hawks and sharks (each team had 5 players in the olympics) have sucked ass since returning from the olympics break?

those 10 guys haven't done [expletive] since returning either.

That's a very good point. Although it's not like Kane and Hossa completely make up the entire scoring load for the Hawks. As bad as we looked before the Olympics, there is certainly a marked dropoff in play since the Olympics.

Geez. I didn't realize that Nashville is only 7 points behind us and Detroit only 8th. Wouldn't that be so hilarious if they both jumped us and we finished with like the 7th seed?

Yeah, I'd be laughing my ass off.

both of those teams have more games played than the hawks, so it would be nearly impossible. theyd basically have to run the table and hope the hawks only win like 1 more game.

it would be funny though

i don't think it's really a coincidence that the skaters started going downhill when our goaltending fell apart. i remember last year there was some talk of how this team played differently in front of khabibulin than they did in front of huet, and i think that's starting to show up again. it's hard to play that aggressive high-flying style of hockey when you know that you don't have a goalie back there who is capable of bailing you out when you make a mistake. huet and niemi have proven that they aren't able to to be relied on like that, and the skaters know that. they look like they're playing scared every night now... and i imagine it's hard not to feel like that when your goalies are so atrocious.

Hell yes I am. I'm just not hopeful that any of you will start to get it.

You've seen it happen a ridiculous amount of times in your life: red-hot team goes cold in the playoffs and vice-versa. But the need to believe in streaks is too strong.

You think playing like crap for 30 games can be considered a streak? At what point does it stop being a streak and begin being a flawed team?
