"Wisniewski was answering for the hit by Seabrook on Perry..."

hayward is the absolute worst commentator i have ever heard in my life. being forced to watch at least 3 games with him calling each season sucks.

yeah, what a dick move too to insinuate Seabrook was selling the hit

to be fair... the first time they showed it in slow motion my initial reaction was that he was selling it too

Ducks GM Murray on Quenneville: "I strongly suggest Joel worries about his goaltending and stops trying to run the National Hockey League."

More from Ducks GM Bob Murray: "I played in Chicago a long time. ... It used to be a black-and-blue town. It didn't have whiners."

wow.

i think q has a right to whine considering he keeps losing defensemen to dirty hits

Yeah I am all for physical play but when we lose defensemen in consecutive games to questionable hits, Q has a right to be pissed. The Ducks are going nowhere and the Hawks are supposedly contenders.

i just cant believe how immature/unprofessional the "quenneville needs to worry aobut his goaltending" comment was. a complete cheapshot about something that has nothing to do with the issue. it makes him sound like a bitter 9 year old.

Listening to the Score this morning for about a half hour, there was not one mention of Seabrooks hit on Perry. They kind of painted Wiz as a cheapshotter with no reason. I am not taking sides, but at least give the whole story.

Yes you are. What do you think a Chicago sports talk station is going to talk about? Former well liked Blackhawk gives ex-teammate a cheap shot, injuring one of our starting defensemen one game after another player who plays the same position is injured by another semi-cheap hit, or Blackhawks player gives another teams player a cheap shot and other player is left uninjured.

I was listening to the Score all day and I never heard one person even put the hit in context. Not until I watched the video myself did I see what Seabrook did to initiate his hit. Was Wiz justified in doing so? No, but it definitely played a part and any good sports talk host would have at least mentioned it.

yeah i agree wiz had a reason to retaliate, but not like he did. he could have sent his message with a hit to the body. no need to head hunt.

and i agree 8 games is pretty ridiculous, considering downie and cooke got nothing for MUCH dirtier plays

yeah, it really got the conversation going the wrong way also. There ended up being a lot of talk about how the Hawks need a good enforcer. Which is really out of context of what happened last night

This is where Dan Bernstein is wrong when he rags on having a goon on the team and all the fighting involved in hockey. Dan can say, "retaliate by scoring goals and taking the hard hits out on them that way," but you can't score goals and win championships if two of your best defensive players are out, one possibly for the regular season and the playoffs. I would not be surprised if the Hawks are targeted in this way the rest of the season. This isn't a matter of just being tough and playing blue collar, old school hockey. It's a matter of keeping your players healthy and you have to do more than retaliating by scoring more goals than the opponent to do that.

It wouldn't hurt if the Hawks didn't head hunt themselves.

Heh, funny that everyone else knows our goaltending sucks except our front brass. That's always comforting.

But yeah, no doubt that's a comment that is in poor taste.

I am pretty sure they know the goaltending has been particularly poor. Do you think they were going to come out and say it and risk further hurting the fragile psyche of a Huet? I just don't think they could really afford to get a netminder like Vokoun. What would the Hawks have had to give up?

I've never bought for one second the idea that goons prevent cheap shots.

Wouldn't you be more scared of an injury-inducing cheap shot than some guy hitting you in the helmet a few times, especially when that guy can't force you to fight him?

That's some pretty classless stuff out of the Anaheim guys. Would like to see those assholes for a long series in April.

The guys seem pretty out of sync tonight, but LA isn't doing any better.

I didnt here what Bernstein said, but honestly what little I have heard hockey talk on the Score it is generally dumb. However, having a goon would not have stopped either of these recent hits on Hawks players. Campbell's hit was just a fluke injury after a pretty common hit. Seabrooks hit was a response to what Wisneiski thought was a dirty hit by Seabrook, Wiz was actually playing the goon. I personally feel that the NHL could easily reign in cheap shots and goon tactics with making all head shots illegal and then consistently suspending players who violate that rule. However, they often listen to a vocal group of fans who think the goonery is a key part of the game.

Nice job crashing the net! Finally got one. Great several shifts there, and I like Hendry tonight. He started that play.

Seems to me the defensemen are playing a lot more straight-up tonight and focusing on being more sound in their own zone. Except for Boynton they are doing a good job. Wish they'd had that focus when they still had Campbell/Seabrook.

We just had a dominant shift with the following group out there:

Burish-Eager-Kopecky-Hendry-Boynton

Wow.

So...despite the sky is falling attitude of late, the Blackhawks are about to be tied for the one seed. (Yes, I have the same concerns as everyone else, but I was just pointing that out for perspective.)
