Brenly is awesome. I just hope he doesn't lose his job for telling like it is.

Soriano wasn't the only one getting an earful. Milton Bradley heard it after striking out in the sixth, and Aaron Miles got booed after grounding out in the eighth. Before going out to the field in the ninth, Bradley put his arm around Miles in the dugout and gave him some words of encouragement.

In the ninth, Bradley was booed for striking out again. Cubs TV analyst Bob Brenly said on WSCR-AM 670 Thursday morning that Bradley was the cause of his own problems.

"He can ... laugh in the face of critics that he can swing the bat from the left side and he can stay healthy," Brenly said. "But do it all year long, don't just do it for a month and proclaim yourself the guy we were looking for.

" ... He has allowed too many distractions to get in between his ears. He incorrectly blames everybody else for making him the lightning rod. Well, if you don't want to be the lightning rod, then don't stand on the roof in a thunderstorm with a 1-iron in your hand. ..."

I do agree that Bradley has brought some of the problems on himself, but I really don't see this thread ending well.

yeah how about saying that soriano and miles have been a joke this season? no let's pick on bradley.

Uh he said Soriano has no business playing right now.

I'm guessing he hasn't listened to Brenly during a Cubs game this year. Soriano has to be one of Brenly's least favorite players.

I applaud Brenly for calling it how it is, although he picked a strange time to pile on Bradley. Lets face it, Bradley isn't the reason the Cubs have been losing all season. Even when he was struggling early on in the year, he was still getting on base pretty regularly. While it is obvious that Bradley is a head case and loves to play up the victim role, he still has two years left on his contract and could be a real asset to the team. The team needs to figure out a way for Bradley to keep his mouth shut and not be overly sensitive.

Our team isnt good. The good thing about the 2008 team is that there were no easy outs on that team.

Soriano

Theriot

Lee

Ramirez

Edmonds

DeRosa

Soto

Fukudome(OK, he was an easy out at the time)

That lineup was a thing of beauty. Now you have Lee, Ramirez, and Fukudome and then find a way to stack the rest of the turds around them.

brenly has the guys he likes and doesn't like. his soriano-bashing has been justified this year, but mike fontenot has completely tanked, aaron miles has played like he's actually trying to make outs, soto blew, a handful of relievers crapped the bed. bradley hasn't been great but there have been a lot worse players than him this year... he's played well during the entire second half, which is more than a month.

Bradley has put up some decent numbers and hasn't been a major reason why this team has tanked. Was I hoping for more power out of him? Yes, I was. But, he has been decent. Has he caused some distractions at times? Yes. But, did we REALLY expect anything else? No, surely not. My biggest concern is his health going forward. I hate saying he's been TOO healthy this season and I figure that he'll miss lots more time next year(and I realize you can't predict those things) but the Cub fan in me expects just that.

But, he needs to be here next year, because there is little to zero chance we can deal him and come out of it better than what we are right now.

I've been watching and listening. I'm just pointing out that Brenly has been talking about Soriano sucking because Truffle said, "how about saying that soriano and miles have been a joke this season? no let's pick on bradley."

yeah but its not like he just picks and chooses who he wants to dislike. he doesn't dislike soriano becuase he sucks. he dislikes him because of his defense, poor discipline, poor fundamentals, blah blah blah. all that dave kaplan type stuff. he dislikes bradley because of the way he's acting (like a baby).

soto, miles, and fontenot have sucked, but they haven't really given anybody any reasons to dislike them personally. they just suck.

As much as I do agree with him, I'm kind of sick of Brenly's unprofessional comments from the booth. The last thing I need is for this team to remind me any more of 2004s club.

Unprofessional? Its his job to give his opinion.

No. It's his job to give commentary to what's going on in the game. Not take cheap shots at other players.

Brenly is just holding the big name players accountable for whats gone on this season. Its common sense, ideally, your big contracts should produce.

I don't think Brenly has said anything that isnt completely true.

I fear the media's/idiot fans hatred of Bradley is going to force Hendry and the Cubs front office to trade Bradley in the offseason for a low A player and a PTBNL.

Bradley is far from the problem of the team. I would say the overall under performances of Z, Harden (first half), and Dempster, a complete sham of a bullpen, no 2B to be found, Aram on the DL for a good chunk of the season, Soriano and Soto performing like little leaguers and Aaron Miles getting time on the 25-man easily overtake anything Bradley has/hasn't done this season.

But of course everyone expects to have Pujols like production at every position, and of course the easiest scape goat of the 09' Cubs is Milton Bradley because he "stole" money from the Cubs, is hurt all the time, has a bad reputation in the public perception (that he is somewhat responsible for), and is the easy guy to pick on because he is a very unlikeable guy in the ESPN/Mainstream media culture of fans who are fucks.

Don't tell anyone, but take away his 08' season and Milton is performing near his career averages this year. But lets just completely overlook Z, Harden, Dempster, Miles, Fontenot, Soto, Soriano (finally starting to get some criticism the last month or so), a bullpen, manager, and GM competing and performing under expectations. And MILTON BRADLEY IS THE CLEAR CAUSE FOR THE 09 FAILURE THAT IS THE CHICAGO CUBS AND NOBODY ELSE IS TO BLAME
