So it took him until 8/26 to play the race card? I would have put the odds closer to 5/26.

What were his postgame comments tonight?

Very generic, followed by a big smile before he left.

I don't know, but he mentioned it in his pre-game comments according to the Trib.

Did I miss something?

Or does black man getting uppity automatically qualify as race card?

The Tribune headline on the website says Bradley accuses Cubs fans of racism.

Anyone want to take up a collection to pay the Cubs to dump this bum? Seriously, it's bad enough that the moron hasn't come close to actually earning his salary, but now he has the nerve to call Cubs fans idiots?

And to think we'd be enjoying an all-star season from Raul Ibanez if Hendry had just listened to Lou!

Cubs fans are idiots.

Ibanez is a worse defender than Bradley and has been terrible lately. Bradley's closing fast.

And that's to mention nothing of years two and three of the contract.

I just don't understand how Bradley could possibly think that continually making these type of comments is a good idea. He has definitely been hitting the ball lately, but he is picking a fight that he can't win. He can either stay quiet and live with some occasional booing for 2 more seasons, or keep talking and draw significantly more negative attention. I guess option #3 is to keep talking and hope it creates a rift so large that it forces the team to eat his salary and trade him. There is no excuse for racist comments and nobody should have to tolerate them, but I believe that Bradley's thin skin goes way beyond that. Someone in the Cubs organization really needs to sit down with him soon and get this under control. If people are making offensive comments in the bleachers, they need to be removed, but the team also needs to keep their own players from pouring fuel on the fire.

Oh, I see it was a cleverly arranged article by that ugly spiteful hobbit.

Put Milton's response to your leading question about racism in the header. Then reveal the questions/answers that preceded buried deep in the article.

Put the article in chronological order and everyone realizes what an ugly spiteful hobbit you are.

Get fucked Sullivan.

Yeah, meant to include that.

Fair enough. Not saying I agreed with Bradley, just pointing out an example of a RF in the very recent past that was bad but seemed like he got a free pass from the Wrigley faithful.

Get [expletive] Sullivan.

Of course it was. It wouldn't be a Paul Sullivan story without him stirring up something and taking quotes out of context, now would it?

Everyone knew Jacque Jones would be bad when we signed him but we booed the living hell out of him. Burnitz got some boos, but nowhere near as bad as Jones.

It's funny, the exact fear I had about Bradley is true. Like I said in the original post, do your damn homework before you sign somewhere. If you don't like fans getting on you, and you are thinking of signing for a team who hasn't won the championship in 100 years and whose fans are very anxious and whose ballpark makes it so the fans are right on top of the outfielders, you probably shouldn't have signed here.

Funny thing is, if Bradley does his homework and decides to sign elsewhere, we probably end up with Dunn or Abreu, probably at a very cheap price. OK, maybe not, we probably throw money at Burrell, or if its Dunn or Abreu, Mr. Impatient Hendry would bid against himself until they signed instead of waiting it out.

Anyways, switch Bradley with Dunn and maybe this year goes differently (I know big maybe). I'd sure have loved his bad when Ramirez was out and Bradley was hitting in the .220's

It's not just Sullivan and Wittemeyer though. Bruce has noted in his blog for several entries that Milton's clubhouse behavior is not only erratic, but sometimes rather hostile, even on seemingly innocuous questions. I'd like to think that Miles isn't baiting him either.

Like IMB said, these comments suggest that Bradley is trying to talk his way out of town. Not even a nutjob like Bradley would continually make crazy comments like that if he wanted to spend the remainder of his contract as a Cub. He definitely wants out and is trying to force the Cubs hand.

offensive players usually only get booed at wrigley when they perform below expectations. if bradley was just a stop gap type guy who signed a small contract, he probably wouldn't be getting booed right now. they would have expected this production. that wasn't the case though. people expected big things from bradley, and have been disappointed. that's when the booing occurs.

Meh, we would probably be exactly where we are right now if we had Dunn.

There's far too many holes on this team to think otherwise.

Yeah but Jones was also a much more frustrating player, with his constant throws into the dirt, soriano-esque at-bats, and baserunning blunders. He seemed like a likeable guy, but not a likeable players. Burnitz kind of just sucked and was there.

plus, most of his boos came in 2007, when he was really crappy and well below expectations.

So then Hendry needs to sit down with Bradley and insist that he will not be traded, regardless of whether that is truly the case. Make it clear that he will have to face the consequences of his comments and the Cubs will not bail him out with a trade. In trying to force the Cubs hand, his comments are most likely having the opposite effect by scaring away any remaining teams that may have been willing to tolerate him.

He was booed loudly in his third home game with the Cubs in 2006. A reason for a lack of boos in 2006 was general apathy due to the pathetic season. I don't know, I usually hate people who say crap like this but I think there's enough evidence out there that we can't outright dismiss the race issue. Note, I didn't say there is a race issue, but that it cannot be eliminated.

BTW, for a good white player booing example, one can always fall back on Todd Hundley

Hendry cited Remlinger too.

Wait, you mean Aaron Heilman, Aaron Miles, Bob Howry, Todd Hundley, Kevin Gregg and Neil Cotts are not black? They have to be because Cubs fans are racists and only hard on the black peeps.

Milton, seriously, demand a trade. Take your .260 hitting, 11HR having, 34 RBI producing ass to a place like Toronto or Washington.

He's a POS.

Nothing like using batting average and RBI's to prove your point on how worthless a player is.
