Crane Kenney was on the local afternoon show (Carmen, Yurko and Harry) and he said he expects the Ricketts family to meet with the higher ups with the Cubs within 2 months. Once I heard this, I became VERY excited with the possibility that drastic changes will be made. Tom Ricketts is not only our new owner, he just so happens to be a HUGE Cubs fan. In fact, I read a story he met his wife in the bleachers years ago.

IMO, the first thing Tom needs to do is tell Hendry: "Thanks, here's your check, now leave". I don't think I need to document why Hendry should be shown the door.

IMO, the second thing he needs to do is hire Sandy Alderson or steal Ned Coletti from the Dodgers. If he gets either once of these guys I'll be one happy fan.

The third thing I would do is hire either Bobby Valentine or promote Alan Trammell as manager. I think Lou is counting the days until the seasons over and he'll walk when it's done.We need good baseball people to run this team and I think the guys I mentioned are just that. I have not totally given up on 2009 just yet, but I think it's over.

Here's to new ownership and one that will finally bring us a world title.

Is Trammel more "old school" with bunting and steals and such, or does he manage a more modern game?

I don't think Bobby Valentine will be coming back to the States anytime soon. He's like a God in Japan.

You want him to hire Ned Coletti?

Yes. Have you not seen what he has done over the last 8 years with far less money to spend?

The Dodgers have a just fine payroll. He inherited a farm system that Logan White, Kim Ng, and Depo are mostly responsible for. Andruw Jones, Juan Pierre, Jason Schmidt all have god awful contracts.

I'm all for replacing Hendry, but let's make it an upgrade please.

Last I heard the team wasn't going to bring him back and the fans and players were doing all they could to change that. I never heard what happened. It's been a couple months.

Ned Coletti is terrible.

That's being kind. I'd rather keep Hendry, and I don't want to.

Ned Coletti is terrible. The reason he has "done so much" with the Dodgers is because the farm system was stocked before he got there (Ethier, Kemp, Loney, Billingsley, Broxton, etc), and he lucked into getting Ramirez for .30 on the dollar because everyone was afraid to pull the trigger on a player that quit on his previous team. Ned had to go for Ramirez because he was in danger of getting canned if the Dodgers didn't do well last year.

Also, I have no doubts that the Cubs can and will remove Hendry if they choose to. But keep in mind that he did just sign a big contract extension last offseason. This might be a factor in the decision to keep or toss Hendry if it's a close one for Ricketts.

i doubt that there will be any major changes.

You think he spent 850M to let the clowns currently running the show stay on board? He's going to clean house.

i think you're going to be disappointed.

You mean we can sign such player as Juan Pierre, Jason Schmidt, Andruw Jones, and Rafael Furcal to big contracts too? ALRIGHT!

andy laroche was a really good prospect

The best right handed hitter of his generation playing motivated was traded for one really good prospect and one average prospect. I'd say they got him cheaper than his true value.

im just saying that andy laroche was not ".30 cents on the dollar". they gave up a really good prospect for him.

My point is if were going to get rid of Hendry, we dont want to replace him with a guy whose going to make the same kind of boneheaded moves.

OK, sorry, 60 cents on the dollar. I just threw a number out there.

Hmmm, what part of Sandy Alderson being my 1st choise did you guys miss? And Coletti is a far better choice than he's getting credit for.

Anyway, I like how you know it alls can pick apart a choice but have none of your own. Classic.

there have been multiple threads where this has been discussed.

I am fairly certain that Lou will retire after all of this. Assuming he does, I'd fire Hendry and:

- Hire DePodesta (2 yr contract with a team option for a 3rd); and

- Let him hire his guy to manage. No idea who that might be.
