Record with Aaron Miles on team

I've never seen so many people hate a team's 4th middle infielder so much.

If you haven't noticed when Miles is on the 25man roster he magically seems to play a lot.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that too much anymore. Miles was getting benched before he hit the DL. And now the Cubs have Baker to fill the platoon role Miles was trying to fill at 2nd and Fox to backup Ramirez at 3rd. So unless Theriot gets hurt more seriously, Miles will probably only see 1-2 starts for the rest of the month.

Thats 1-2 starts too many. If only Andres Blanco hadnt suffered that fake calf injury.

Unless and until there is conclusive evidence to the contrary, I remain convinced that Miles is an undercover operative paid by Larussa to sabotage the Cubs.

NO ONE DENIES THIS

Who the hell let this guy on the board?

Do not worry. Mark DeRosa is lurking in the Cardinals' clubhouse, biding his time until the first of September rolls around and Pujols' knee shatters due to a "freak" accident involving an airborne bat and some hair gel residue on Mark's batting gloves. If we're lucky, a falling Pujols rolls onto Holliday's leg and pops his Achilles.

At least, that's what I asked for when I mailed Mark that $20 last week. I didn't get a reply, so I assume he's down with the plan.

Karma disclaimer: I do not advocate intentionally hurting anyone, nor do I wish for any illness or injury on any Cardinals player. But if it happens and it helps the Cubs, so be it.

a 4th middle infielder with a 2/5 contract

Who hates him cause of the money he makes? Cub fans hate him cause he sucks.

And also because he is DeRosa's replacement that we spent 2.5 mil/year on when we could have gotten the same production (and have) from people in the org already making rookie salaries. We could have had 2.5 million extra to use on upgrades in season. And the worst part is that it's for 2 years. Who the hell would given a player of his ability and his age a 2 year deal just boggles my mind every single day.

I don't think the contract is a big reason why people hate Miles, it's one of the reasons some people don't like Hendry, but I think the Miles thing is primarily production-based. But you do bring up a good point in that some people view him as DeRosa's replacement, even though he's more of Cedeno's replacement.

The contract is a big reason. Most of us were against the signing. His season just reaffirmed our position. DeRosa was traded to free up money, then they turn around and give nearly half of DeRosas money to Miles. His career production suggests he should be making the minimum. They tried to justify it by saying that he can be he backup shortstop. But,since his arm and range are below average for a second baseman, saying he can backup at short doesn't make much sense. His bat and speed are below average also.

Assuming he could have played within a few days, the worst move of the week was to put Andres Blanco on the disabled list with that calf boo-boo to create a needed roster spot with a week of key games looming in Colorado and against Philadelphia. Blanco is not only a head-and-shoulders better infielder than Aaron Miles, but he's the team's best infielder, period. And, by the way, the light-hitting Blanco is out-hitting Miles by 34 points.

From the suntimes. LOL, the suntimes has even call Hendry out on his BS with Miles and Blanco.

I dont blame Miles at all for the contract. Thats all Hendry. If someone offered you a guaranteed 5 million dollars to do a job you werent very good at would you say no? If we didnt have a quality 4th middle infielder, and Miles was signed for minimum at the end of ST, that would be one thing, but Hendry jumped all over him like he was some kind of off season prize, just a month before other teams started getting guys like Abreu, Dunn, and Hudson for bargain basement prices. I blame Miles for sucking at baseball. I blame Hendry for sucking at GMing.

I think it is pretty fair to say that Hendry severely misjudged this year's free agent market, both in the players he targeted and the contracts he offered them. Miles is a glaring example only because his performance has been so terrible, but Bradley and Dempster were similarly overpaid.

Well said. It's a joke that the Cubs had to fake-DL Blanco to make room for Aaron Piles.

Just DFA this turd and be done with him. This team actually had some mojo when he was on the DL and he came back and totally sucked the life from the team.
