  1. Damn. I know how to use photoshop...I just don't have it.
  2. According to Sullivan it was due to "violating team regulations". He was probably gonna get released this offseason anyway, to clear 40-man space.
  3. DeRosa is .195/.259/.481 with the Cards and .254/.324/.462 overall in 2009. He's hitting for good power but he's making a ridiculous amount of outs this season. He's a good offensive 2nd baseman, but he's just an average at best 3rd baseman
  4. a 4th middle infielder with a 2/5 contract Who hates him cause of the money he makes? Cub fans hate him cause he sucks. And also because he is DeRosa's replacement that we spent 2.5 mil/year on when we could have gotten the same production (and have) from people in the org already making rookie salaries. We could have had 2.5 million extra to use on upgrades in season. And the worst part is that it's for 2 years. Who the hell would given a player of his ability and his age a 2 year deal just boggles my mind every single day. I don't think the contract is a big reason why people hate Miles, it's one of the reasons some people don't like Hendry, but I think the Miles thing is primarily production-based. But you do bring up a good point in that some people view him as DeRosa's replacement, even though he's more of Cedeno's replacement.
  5. He also threw out the only baserunner who tried to steal on him while he was down there.
  6. a 4th middle infielder with a 2/5 contract Who hates him cause of the money he makes? Cub fans hate him cause he sucks.
  7. Well according to Bill Hall, Bill Hall is the best 3rd baseman in the league
  8. Isn't he still like the Cubs alltime leager in postseason HRs and RBIs or something like that?
  9. Neifi Perez? I think we all would've hated him a lot less if Dusty didn't play him so much
  10. I've never seen so many people hate a team's 4th middle infielder so much.
  11. Plenty thought the same last year about the Cubs I don't agree. I remember fans of the Mets, Phillies, and Dodgers all hoping to draw the Cubs towards the end of the season. I think it's because despite having several good hitters and pitchers, there are none that really people stay up at night worying about. Of course most fans are idiots. Well some of fans thought the Cubs would lose, not because of the players that are on the field, but because of the fact that they're the Cubs.
  12. BTW by my rough (not guarenteed to be right) math...With Miles on the roster 26-27 without 31-21
  13. What do think the chances were that Soriano would see a single fastball if he had Aaron Miles and Koyie Hill batting behind him? Like Fontenot and Hill are much better? If you were a pitcher, would you ever throw Soriano a fastball? For guys like him it doesn't matter who bats before or after him. Fontenot has been hot though (1.056 OPS in the last week) and the Reds at least have to respect him after the homer monday.
  14. What do think the chances were that Soriano would see a single fastball if he had Aaron Miles and Koyie Hill batting behind him?
  15. Having a little extra rest is not only needed for Harden, but Zambrano too. The last couple years he's had struggles in August, whether that's a dead arm or just a coincidence I don't know. But it's something to keep in mind
  16. Sure, but so did the fact that he was the starting ASG catcher, and had terrific numbers for a his position. Who was his closest competition? Joey Votto Yeah, Votto actually had slightly better numbers than Soto last year, but Soto put the numbers up at a typically offensive starved position where his numbers were some of the best in the majors whereas Votto's were par for the course at his position. That played a lot into it. If you go solely off numbers, Votto would've had Soto beat, but factor in defense and position and Soto was a no brainer I think you are giving the vast majority of people that vote on these sorts of things far too much credit Yeah, especially when you consider the ones who voted for Volquez despite the fact that he wasn't a rookie.
  17. I believe he's changed his delievery since his last significant amount of time in the majors, he was more 3/4s before...that's probably added a few MPH
  18. Maybe eventually we'll get lucky and the Royals will actually be good sometime and the White Sox suck for 13 straight years.
  19. Cause he wants to be like Dusty? That's how he ruined Aaron Harang
  20. Well the Brewers current RF is Bill Hall, so maybe Corey will get a chance to destroy a 3rd NL Central team.
  21. It should be Hoffpauir who goes down. He's struggled mightly in the last couple months and Jake Fox can do everything he can: play 1st, the corner outfield spots (although I wouldn't put him out there in right for a Wrigley day game) and hit against RHP (Fox in 76 ABs against righties is batting .329/.365/.618 with 6 of his 7 HRs) But I wouldn't hold my breathe on that happening
  22. If defense doesn't matter then until Reed gets back we should go early '07 against LHP and play Soriano in center, and then have Fox in left and Milton in right. (shudder)
  23. Many Brewer fans I know despise Reed Johnson because of the Yovani Gallardo accident last year...and Carlos Zambrano cause of his 'antics'...and, well, actually many Brewer fans just hate every Cub
