Brien Taylor (P Yankees)?? I remember all the hype about him...maybe he really wasn't that projectable, but he was all over ESPN/media back then

Edit: Oooops, the OP article was specifying busts from the last decade...

Hard to call a 24 year old with a 90+ RBI season under his belt already a bust. I think he'll get there eventually, but he shouldn't be on that list yet. Not until he's at least 27 or 28, imo.

If they are going to put pitchers on there with arm injuries than Mark Prior has to top the list...Nothing against Miller or Anderson But Prior was a much bigger bust IMO...

Not really. Prior actually reached the big leagues and had substantial success.

He's got 106 career starts, is 42-29 with a 3.51 ERA, 657 IP, 757 K, 223 BB and a career ERA+ of 123. Injuries ruined his career, they didn't prevent it from starting.

Patterson had some success - a lot of those guys had none - I'm not sure he belongs on this particular list.

Was Josh Booty this decade? What about the SS San Diego drafted - Matt Bush??

I just noticed John Ford Griffin on the Iowa roster wasn't he once really highly regarded?

What Prior did in '03 alone was probably worth the hype.

It seems like they're going based on prospect status rather than draft position. Matt Bush never had a very good prospect status. However, in terms of where he was drafted and the train wreck that followed, you could make an argument that he's one of the greatest busts of all time.

I didnt realise that Betemit was once that highly regarded.

There was a time when Betemit was thought to be the next big thing. Then Escobar and Andrus occurred ... and Betemit went by the wayside in Atlanta (along with the fact that his swing didn't adjust in the upper levels).

I remember reading an article about Sean Burroughs reasons for failure. Basically, a lot of it had to do with his load time, which was long. It's part of the problem with Matt Antonelli as well.

I believe Crasnick noted Alex Escobar in his article. He was supposed to be a big time guy. He also mentioned Matt Murton ... which I found odd. Murton was never really considered an elite prospect. Good perhaps.
