Personally, I think that Lee should have at least been on the final vote ballot.

Lee's year really hasn't been that special. His awful April is still weighing down his season #s.

That and they already have 4 first baseman on the roster.

Except that last year when Soriano - a fan-voted starter - was unable to play, his replacement (David Wright) was chosen by Hurdle, not because of any vote total.
My memory could be playing tricks on me, then (after all, I'm less than a half year away from turning 50 :( ). I thought that was how Marmol made the team last year, but I can't swear to it.

Marmol made the team on Woody's open roster spot because he had the next highest vote totals among relievers on the player ballot.

Yup, not the fan vote, the player vote. The Cubs will not have a second Al Star, unless a couple of the 4 first basement on the roster go down.

This can go here, I guess. Representing the NL in the Home Run Derby will be :

Prince Fielder

Adrian Gonzalez

Ryan Howard

Albert Pujols

No word on the AL yet, but my money's on Morneau, Teixeira, Bay and Hunter.

Hopefully it screws up their swings.

damn, you beat me.

though i almost don't even want it to mess with pujols. the cardinals don't worry me in the near term and with a season or two like he's on pace for, he'll soon price himself right out of St. Louis... and into Chicago! yes, im calling it.

That would really piss you off to have to watch him play for the Cardinals and then the White Sox.

I don't know if this has been mentioned....but Manuel putting Howard into the ASG is a complete joke. He has like a .325 OBP and .850 OPS.

Yeah, Ryan Howard is like the 9th best 1B in the NL this year.

Also... Zimmerman over Sandoval? Seriously?

.293/.361/.479

vs

.332/.386/.572

ummmm

That because of the stupid rule of "every team has to be represent." And seeing as Cain and Lincecum made it from the Giants........

I wish MLB would seriously get rid of the rule. If the All Star Game "truly counts" they why would either All-Star team want anybody from the worst team(s) of either league on the AS team?

i forgot about that stupid rule.

but if they just put adam dunn in over pence like they should have, that wouldn't have been an issue.

god the NL roster is botched in so many ways

I am pretty sure that Zimmerman was voted in by the players, so the manager had no choice on him.

Are there any other Nationals to even choose from?

Well if Zimmerman was not voted in by the players, you could have taken Dunn over Pence, then Sandoval over Zimmerman and still had the same number of outfielders and 3b.
