Well Artest to LA certainly came out of nowhere.

He's definitely an upgrade over Ariza as long as he's willing to play second/third fiddle to Kobe and Pau.

The Lakers probably just won next year's title.

Cleveland might end up with Ariza and Rasheed's probably going to Boston. They've probably already won the Western Conference, but I don't think they've won the title just yet.

Better for the Lakers than them resigning Ariza and Artest going to Cleveland.

Ariza's a solid player, but he's not nearly as good of a shooter as he was in the postseason. Of course, he'll certainly help whatever team he goes to.

And I wouldn't say the Lakers just won next year's title. They have to resign Odom first.

Aren't Odom and Artest kind of redundant? They aren't the same player, but would have similar roles for the Lakers offensively. What's the chances they lose Odom and go after an Andre Miller?

Ariza and Artest are redundant. Odom and Artest are not.

Odom is more of a PF, though he can play SF if necessary. In the postseason Pau played even amounts of PF and C, Odom primarily PF and Bynum C. If Ariza came out, it was usually Luke Walton going in at SF.

I doubt they go after Miller since they already have a point guard on the wrong side of 30. I know Fisher is no Miller but I bet the just go with Fisher/Farmar/Brown next year and see what sticks.

Grizzlies traded Quentin Richardson for Zach Randolph. Interesting trade, basically Darko for Randolph.

I don't get why the Clippers wanted Richardson. How does that help? Randolph is a weirdo and all, but he's still a 20-10 guy, and you got back...Q-Rich? Okay...

it probably has something to do with blake griffin and the fact that z-bo is fat, lazy, expensive and a defensive liability.

I didn't say I didn't get why they traded Randolph. I just have a hard time seeing how Richardson, aside from contract, helps the Clippers at all, and I suspect they could have gotten more for him--or at least different.

well, the clippers are notoriously, repeatedly stupid. and the return for z-bo was destined to be slim, considering how much he makes and the fact that no one wants him. Except the grizz, apparently, who are just as stupid as the clippers.

But the contract is basically the whole deal. They weren't going to be anything on the court next year anyways. Now they at least can go all in with offers next summer and hope that people want to come to LA and play with Baron, Griffin and Gordon.

Looks like Hedo is "96%" sure of Portland unless Toronto matches the 5 year 55-60 miilion.

I am a happy Blazer fan. Especially since this gives them a TON of depth at forward and another shooter to help Roy. This likely also means that Rudy becomes a tall SG or the blazers go small with Hedo at the PF and Aldridge at C with Roy, Rudy & Bayless all running the perimeter.

Outlaw is likey a trade candidate, possibly in a sign and trade for Andre Miller. Those saying the Lakers are still on the top aren't as confident if all this goes down and with the Spurs re-tooling.

So what happens with Rudy?

from what i can see, all the good teams are getting the good players, and the middle to bottom of the league is left with the sloppy seconds.

So you're saying the NBA good teams are Sean Avery, and the bad teams are Dion Phaneuf?

This is not a stupid move by the Grizzlies. They had no one on the roster who could score down low. No one. They now have a player who can consistently score on the block and knock down the occasional 17 footer. This should really help Gay and Mayo on the perimeter. Is Zack Randolph ideal no. But no free agents are going to come here. The only way to get big time talent is through the draft and trades.

Haha Zack Randolph is not a big time talent. He's seriously awful.

Awful? He's Elton Brand minus the blocks.

What's not true about it? Take away Randolph's first two years in the league when he was averaging less that 15 m/pg and their career numbers are basically identical. The only difference being that Brand's field goal % is slightly better.

randolph doesnt get to the FT line, doesn't shoot a high % from the field, turns the ball over too much, plays no defense and is basically a black whole on offense no matter where he touches the ball

But aside from that...
