It's ok guys, DeRosa is sure to sabotage the Cards season like Miles have been trying to do in the offseason.

Man, I wish DeRosa could say he won't show up to St. Louis and basically hold both teams hostage, but I know Derosa is a stand up guy and he won't do that. But this is sure a crappy day.

Man, I am so ticked off. There is no way I am going to get any sleep tonight. Can I talk any of you into reading me a bed time story? Somebody please reassure me that the Cubs will survive this latest blunder by Hendry. I wonder how the Cub players are feeling right now, knowing that DeRo is now a Cardinal? I still can't believe this.

I'm more upset about not getting DeRosa than I am the Cardinals actually getting him. Their rotation is almost as bad as Milwaukee's and the left side of their infield is still pretty bad. I think Glaus is still pretty far away from coming back and I'm confident that soon people like Joel Pineiro will realize they're Joel Pineiro.

Really?

Carpenter is far better than any pitcher on the Cubs

Wainwright is as good as any pitcher on the Cubs

Pineiro isn't as good, but is pitched as well as any pitcher on the Cubs

Lohse is hurt, but he's a a solid 3rd, good 4th starter

[expletive] you Jim Hendry.

What an absolutely legendary offseason. Everybody in the world new they were awful at the time and oh look.... they really are awful. He deserves to be fired for this. He completely ruined the team in a matter of months. Horrible.

Carpenter is good obviously but is also an injury waiting to happen.

Wainwright is solid, the most consistent of their starters.

But I doubt Pineiro, Lohse, or Wellemeyer would even make the Cubs starting rotation right now. Yeah they all have gone through good stretches, but who hasn't?

Doesn't a player have the power to veto a trade like Peavy did? Mark would do this if he truly cares about the Cubs.

Um... yeah... if the player happens to have a no-trade clause, which Mark DeRosa does not. If he did, I'm pretty sure he never would have allowed the trade to Cleveland in the first place.

Wainwright would have the 4th best ERA on the Cubs. Carpenter would have the best ERA, but he's pitched a grand total of 65 innings. ow has Piniero pitched as well as any starter on the Cubs? Lshe is hurt? Go back to St. Louis.

Yeah look at Wainright's sparkling 1.34 WHIP. Game over man, game over.

And saying Pineiro has pitched as well as any starter on the Cubs is pretty dumb. He has 40 k's in 92 innings. Have fun holding up those numbers like that. 40 k's in 92 innings and he's only given up 2 bombs. Righhhhhtttt.

Hendry is a horrible, horrible MLB GM.

Really, he's approaching Jim Frey/Ed Lynch territory.

He can't become a former Cubs executive soon enough.

Carpenter's resume is solidified. Nobody on your staff is even close

Wainwright over the last 3 seasons has been as good as any Cub starter, and this year he'd be second in VORP on the Cubs behind Lilly, who he is a much better pitcher than. Lilly is basically Kyle Lohse with a few more Ks, but more walks.

I didn't say Pineiro was a good pitcher, but he's having a very good season. You worry about Ks, I worry about HRs and BBs. And he's given up 12 walks in 92 innings. That's great. And he's given up 2 home runs. It wont last, but that's not what I argued.

Carp >>>>>>>> Zambrano

Wainwright > Harden (Should he even count? He doesn't even pitch and when he does, he's awful).

Lilly = Lohse

Dempster > Pineiro, but that's not saying much

Randy Wells? Marshall vs. Brad Thompson. Whatever, they all suck.

Go to sleep.

The worst GM in MLB in case you ever wondered.

Who else takes a 90+ win team and dismantles it because he needed more lefties? None other than the worst gm in MLB.

Ive just been served by the not so dynamic duo. whoa is me.

look you just equated chris perez, a guy who can throw 100 mph and struck out 12 guys per 9 IP, to a pitcher with 4.5 K/9 IP and a 1:1 K/BB ratio the past three years. if you don't want to be goofed on, don't do things like that.

I was being faitly serious about Ascanio, partially with Hart, and downright bitter and sarcastic about Berg. I know we could have put something better together. However, as much of a bitter pil it is to swallow, our real problem is the pen. The offense seems to be getting it together. The starting hasnt been as lights out as it was when the offense was MIA, but its still damn good, but the pen has been our achilles heal all year, and thats where we really need help. If we could have Fox as the regular 3B until Ramirez is back, Id be OK with Blanco, Font, or Freel as the #8 guy.

Can we get a ban on this idiot? Between today's game and the trade I don't have the patience to deal with people like him.

I like how you choose which time period you want to talk about depending on how it makes your player look. When you talk about harden, it's "he sucks this year", while you ignore his resume of how he always pitches when he's healthy. But then when you talk about Wainright, it's "the last few years" because really he hasn't been that good this season, despite the low ERA. Then with Lilly it's "Wainright is a much better pitcher than him".... again choosing to ignore this season and instead look at his recent track record.... because that's what helps your argument more.

Posted
So basically, we could have had him for Jose Ascanio and a PTBNL. Or Kevin Hart and a PTBNL. or Justin Berg and a PTBNL.

(a) chris perez is better than the names you listed.

(b) i like how your PTBNL is just a five-letter asset that apparently does not differ from one team to another.

Screw that noise, Chris Perez is not better than Ascanio.

This is a good deal for the Cards, it sucks that it gives them another decent hitter.

Can't say I'm too upset from the "where were you Hendry?" angle though. Like was mentioned before, the only place they can really make any changes is at 2B, and I don't think Fontenot and DeRosa will be too different on an offense+defense basis going forward. If they traded for somebody like Clint Barmes(although I've been pushing for him since the offseason), I wouldn't complain though.
