Sharapova has 8 double faults in 6 service games...and leads 6-4, 2-0. Not a very pretty match.

But Sharapova is in it, so it is.

Only reason to watch tennis, imo.

I'm glad he is finally coming along since I was picking him like 3 years ago to be better than Nadal :-).

Still hoping that Murray wins the other semi.

This will be the first time anyone other than Federer or Nadal will be No. 1 since 2004, when Andy Roddick was the top-ranked player.

Also, and I think I heard this on Sportscenter but I'm not sure, it will be weird if Nadal wins because he'll have won five of the last six majors but will be No. 2 in the world.

That sounds plausible and is why I don't like Nadal. His game is not sustainable for any length of time. The injuries are getting longer and longer, and he comes back, punishes himself again to burn so brightly, and ends up broken within a few months.

That was the main reason why I didnt peg him to be at the level he is at today. His fitness level is just absurd though.

Djokovic needs to reset now in the 4th. Don't blow this!

Big win for Djokovic tonight. It's pretty crazy how he can go from smoking Nadal 6-1 in the second to getting smoked 6-1 in the third.

Djokovic has the potential now to go down as one of the greats (top-10ish). He's got three majors (on two different surfaces) already and he just turned 24 so you figure he should be good for at least three more in his career. 26 people have won 6 majors but only 11 in the Open Era. Those numbers get trimmed to 20/9 for seven majors and 12/7 for eight. There's almost no way he passes Federer or even gets close unless he finishes off his third major win this year in the Open and then has a couple more years like that.

I could easily see him ending up in that 7-9 range, especially if Nadal either misses some more majors or isn't 100% (like at the Aussie). And unlike Nadal, Djokovic doesn't have the injury problems and hasn't missed a major since he played in his first in Australia in 2005. Djokovic also doesn't get bounced early and hasn't lost before the quarters since the 09 French and hasn't made the quarters only twice in his last 18 majors.

It's still a very big if but with his 38-0 record to start the season if he can win the US Open he will be considered for one of the greatest seasons ever. Might be in the top 3.

Looking back on Federer it's just astonishing what he did over about 3 years.

Yeah, Federer's run from 04-07 was just ridiculous. He won at least 88% of his matches each year including three years of over 93%. By comparison, Nadal's best year is 89%. He won 11 of the 16 majors (three losses to Nadal in the French, one to Kuerten and an epic five-set loss to Safin in Australia). His 05 was particularly absurd. He went 92-5 with his only loss in a major to Nadal in the French. He played 17 tournaments and made 16 finals (he lost to a young Andy Murray in the second round in Cincinnati) and won 12 tournaments. He had his best overall record in 04 but he only won two majors and lost in the semis of the other two.

Suck it, NBC. So happy they lost Wimbledon because of this. It's really not that hard to televise matches live, especially later round ones. I couldn't get the Murray-Nadal semifinal live because they didn't want to air it until later in the day. If you're not airing semifinal matches live, you're doing it wrong.

The surprising thing about this is that NBC/Versus are trying to create a sports network that can compete with ABC/ESPN. You would think if they were that committed they would make sure that the big Wimbledon matches were televised live.

The Murray match today was pretty fun to watch.

Andy Roddick and John Isner both just won their 4th round matches within seconds of each other, so two Americans are on to the quarters. Of course, they'll face Nadal and Murray, respectively, but hey, American mens tennis players in the quarters.

Fish should have made it too.

Janko Tipsarevic took Djokovic to two tiebreakers in the first two sets, winning one, and then failed to win another game the rest of the match.

Women's semifinals and finals moved to Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Men's semifinals remain on Saturday but the final is moved to Monday.

This was a good move because there's no way whoever makes it through the bottom half of the bracket should be forced to play four matches in four days.
