Based on salary alone, I already like Blanco more than I like Miles. The fact that Blanco is a minor league player, who can normally be found in the minor leagues, is temporarily replacing another minor league player, at the major league level, makes it very difficult to hate Blanco more than Miles.

Blanco may not hit at all but he's a better defensive SS than Miles. Since Miles can't hit or play SS Blanco is an improvement. I wouldn't be surprised if Blanco starts the next game since Theriot was supposed to be off on Monday.

 

Waddell is better than Cotts because Piniella will refuse to use him in a close game.

I'm happy to see everyone up, but I'm hoping Lou uses Waddell selectively. The guy has a history of control problems and I'm not entirely sure he's gotten over those problems yet.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about his L/R splits this season considering those are over 16.6 IP. Small sample size and all that.

Scales was only sent down because of the flu because we needed the roster spot. Andres Blanco will be called up from Iowa to be the backup middle infielder, making Freel the starting 3B by default.

It's Turk Wendell. There was a Hall of Fame pitcher named Rube Waddell who pitched in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

This year in AAA righties have hit .205 and lefties have hit .346 against Waddell.

Its pretty funny everything you read just says Miles to DL, it doesnt say why hes going on the DL though haha
