Carlos ejected the umpire because he initiated the contact. Z did push back.

Haha. As soon as I say this MLB.tv catches up and Bob points it out as I type it.

Doesn't matter. A player doesn't have a right to stand in the ump's face and argue a call. If contact happens while the player is doing that, that's his own fault.

That's not true. Players absolutey have the right to argue. They get away with it with regularity. Umps have been reprimanded for provoking incidents, it could happen again.

Ron THeriot is having a pretty good day

Is he new? I hope hes better than Blanco,

Yeah, apparently he's Ryan's identical twin that thinks fielding pct is the best way to rate a player defensively.

The camera angle can distort our perceptions as to what's high, low, inside, outside, but it has no effect whatsoever on our ability to tell if an umpire is calling a zone consistently.

I question whether the human eye and brain has that ability under any circumstances. That's an awfully high degree of differentiation you are asking them to take on.

well, if your argument is that humans are physiologically or psychologically incapable of being competent umpires, that's a legitimate position, but I don't think most people will agree that no one can do it.

Maybe since Lou wont erupt, Z was just taking matters into his own hands.

Morgan was safe. I have DVR.

This is really funny taken out of context.

I have DVR and I don't think you can conclusively say he got the left hand in there. I think he most likely did, but it is not 100% certain.

Getting away with it and having the right to do it aren't really the same thing.

Maybe the pitching staff has a bet to see who can get Lou to go out there and get ejected first. With Lilly's and Z's actions the last few days.

Yes they are, the precedent has been set for decades that players are allowed to argue right in front of the ump.

Even if he didn't have the right to get in his face to argue the call MLB can't suspend Z for making contact when he didn't initiate it.

I wonder if, like Big 10 BB Officials, some MLB Umpires think the fans come to see them and not the baseball.

It would have been awesome if Milton Bradley came in from RF and helped Zambrano out. He could have done the ballbag throwing:

He was [expletive] out!!! Z is probably gonna get suspended now....[expletive]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was clearly safe, and it wasn't even close Morgan had almost his whole left arm over the plate.

I Had myself a good excuse as to why we lost the game today...why you gotta take it away from me?

The next grievance the Players' Union has should be the ridiculous rights the Umpires' Union has.

Your DVR sucks. Just kidding. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. But, the one thing I noticed on all the replays I saw that really stuck out the most was that no one was in a better position to call Morgan safe than the umpire. He was in an absolutely perfect spot to see it all, and there wasn't one single camera angle that had a better view than he did.
