I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night

He’s gotta be strong

And he’s gotta be fast

And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero

I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the morning light

He’s gotta be sure

And it’s gotta be soon

And he’s gotta be larger than life"

Fantastic first post.

Game's gonna suck. Gallardo is going to [expletive] some Howry up. He'll probably homer too.

If only I wasn't so sure the rest of the thread will be filled with talk about the horrible game tonight I could love that first post as much as it deserves. Good work.

Who cares the season is basically over

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/si/2008/writers/frank_deford/06/18/cubbies/Piniella.jpg

Lou: "Uh, what's with the negativity?"

40+ years of following the Cubs (for me); that's what is with the negativity.

When I saw that injury I had exactly the same feeling as when Nomar went down.

But what do I know?

Gee I am glad I have other things to do.

Lou: "Alright, son. I just got twothings to say to that. First, how can you not like a team that is pitching Captain America tonight? Second, I still don't know why that leggy broad is in our clubhouse, but if she stays much longer, she's gonna learn why they call me 'Sweet Lou'."

I'd like the graduation gift of a Cubs victory.

Geovany breaks out of his slump in a big way and communicates to the world that he's gonna pick up the slack while Aramis is out of commission. Bradley homers again and D Lee goes 4-4 with 2 doubles. Gallardo gets knocked out of the game in the third as the Cubs roll 8-3 over the Brewers.

ETA: Also, nice job Vance - I like the positive energy.

I was pretty disappointed in the Cubs approach to Hoffman' smoke and mirrors last night, no one could get to those bp fastballs he was throwing? Bradley especially sucked, he took a couple of the pathetic Hoffman fastballs and they weren't even well located. And by the way, Soto really, really, really sucks.

Best first post in a game thread ever?

I appreciate the sentiment, but I know Bhogg has at least 2 or 3 that are much better.

Yeah no offense to your great effort, but obviously someones got to be firing on all cylinders to beat the game thread pimp.

it's a shame that we have such a great first post in a thread in which the last post is going to be a string of 40 swear words and right before the thread gets locked

If it will make anyone feel better, the wife just informed me that the first time the Brewers brought Hoffman into a game this season, they played "Hell's Bells" for him even though it wasn't a save opp.

That's kind of funny.
