BSU back on track after beating NIU 71-66 today. Assuming Central beats Toledo, the worst team in the league, tomorrow, that sets up a potential division title battle at Worthen Arena next Wednesday, with both teams 7-5 in the MAC. Could be fun.

And Billy Taylor will be hired away after this season. This is why my rooting for BSU is half-hearted. The first real successful season we have Taylor is gone. If he stays one more season maybe he will replace Brey if ND falls apart with out Harangody.

I doubt Taylor gets hired away after a barely-above-.500 season in year 3. It would take some sustained success including NCAA berths, which we are still a good distance away from if Kent's destruction of us last week is evidence.

He won't get a great job but remember how crappy the MAC pays coaches. Going to a struggling big school or a good small conference school will give him a good sized raise. As far as the sustained success I don't think you have to have that great of success to get hired away especially when you consider the very publicized circumstances Taylor took the program over in. If they win the MAC West title this year that will make it 2 in row and this year it will have been in a respectable form. I think that is more than enough (especially considering his success at Lehigh too) to get him a struggling Big East school offer.

As far as ND is concerned I think if he stays one more year and again wins the MAC West he could get that job since he is an alum. However, that is a big if as is Brey getting booted.

I want Brey booted and Fran McCaffery to replace him, but that's not going to happen. I think if Taylor really puts it together next year and has a great season (possible since I believe only 2 regular players will be out of eligibility after this year) he will get an offer, and if he does I'd be fine with it being from Notre Dame.

Somebody should probably mention to the Illini that the game started at noon today.

Nothing to see there. Except for the Illini again not getting home court from the refs. Plus they're playing like ass.

Someone still making an argument that the Illini could be tops in the Big Ten, talent-wise?

1 big win and the crazies have a field day. Zero consistency, only 2 talented players right now.

I liked the charge Lighty took on McCamey, while jumping.

No way, this one half in which OSU shot 60 percent from three is definately enough for all of us to throw that out the window.

3 point shooting or not, OSU is running Illinois up and down the floor. Illini making bad passes, can't do anything inside, and have had ZERO prouction at the guard spot.

Wisconsin is just a glorified Iowa and wasn't a big win unless you're talking about msu.

No one beats anyone that shoots over 60% from three. No one.

The only chance Ohio state had was to chuck and hope Illinois missed shots and it happened

:rotfl:

The absurdity of this post makes me laugh. Ohio State with Turner is probably the best team in the Big Ten.

Both those statements are fantastic. You don't beat MSU if Lucas plays. And a team that's made the tourney 12 years in a row (counting this year, as they are a lock) and has had 20+ wins in 7 of 8 years isn't a glorified anything.

wisconsin is a chucking team that simply is a little better at it than iowa. they've regularly underachived (and always will) in the tournament because ryan runs a gutless, chucking offense that allows any crappy team to play with them at any given time.

Aside from all the stupidity on this page, Illinois probably wouldn't have won today with the way they played, but they don't get blown out of the gym if both teams shoot a normal % from the field.

ohio state is a talented, athletic team, which is why i find their "chucking it like there's no tomorrow" strategy strange because they normally don't shoot a lot of 3s.

An offense is bound to change when it loses its star 6'10" player. I would like to shoot less 3-pointers, but we're still winning.

As for underachieving in the tournament, besides Illinois' championship game appearance, Wisconsin has had greater success, making the final four, elite eight, and 2 sweet sixteens in the past 10 years.

I'll assume you're just bitter from losing by 20 at home to what you consider a worse team. I know the feeling, but then again, our loss was only by 7.

Just curious, how long have you been waiting to make this post to bash the Illini? Seven months? Longer? Seems like an odd entry. Was last week's home loss really eating at you that much?

illinois has been to the championship game, an elite 8 and 2 sweet sixteens in the last 9 years if you want to get specific.

Ohio State shot 21 threes

Illinois shot 23.
