Speaking of defense and good coaching what do think the Bulls of 90's would have done with these Celtics?

I think the 90s Bulls would have swept these Celtics, even with Garnett.

That's nuts.

With Garnett? I think that's pretty optimistic. They would've won, but not swept. Do you remember how teams like the Knicks and Pacers (and Jazz) gave us a hell of a time in the playoffs?

The Celtics of last year > those Jazz teams, IMO.

The Celtics of this year with KG are a better team than last year too. A year of development from Perkins, Davis, and Rondo is a big deal.

I think this year's team is better than all the Bulls losers except for maybe Phoenix. I was young when the Bulls beat the Lakers but I seem to remember it being a case of a pretty old team by that point right?

Probably. I mostly wrote the post so you'd read it and get upset.

And what are Allen, Garnett and Pierce? Fresh out of school?

By the way - Jordan, Pippen, Grant, Armstrong all < 30 in '92, Paxson was 31, Cartwright was the "old man".

I don't expect the Bulls to win heck, I thought they might be able to steal one game but, two? However wouldn't be something if they did win the Series? The looks on Garnett' face alone would be worth the price of admission.

And some injuries to that Laker team. But once Pippen started guarding Magic, I don't think it really mattered.

I actually think the Seattle team in 1996 was really good, arguably the best team the Bulls beat.

Man, Gary Payton was so good back then.

I remember being a stupid 9 year old kid watching the 1996 Finals and deciding that the Bulls had purposely lost Games 4 and 5 in Seattle so they could clinch at home. I had no inkling of how good Seattle actually was.

They did. So Jordan could win it on Father's Day at home. Duh.

bs. one play in game 2 and it's 3-1 bulls, so shut up and thank your lucky celtic stars that you're going to win in 7.

One play in games 1 and 4 and it's 4-0 Celtics.

Allen's the only one of the 3 in an obvious decline, and I think he's shown in this series that he's far from done. Even though it's only 15 years, the difference in big men is pretty drastic. Garnett/Perkins/Davis would abuse Grant/Cartwright/stiff of the month. Rodman's probably a different story.

You don't think Garnett is in an obvious decline? If not statistically, at least physically.

You honestly believe a prime Horace Grant would be over matched by the athleticism of today's game but Big Baby wouldn't be?

Yes. Just because Davis is a fat load doesn't mean he isn't athletic.

Yup, but thats what happens when 3 of the 4 games went down to the very last seconds. Any of those games could have gone the other way.

True, but the difference is that nobody expected the Bulls to give the C's all they can handle.

Yea. Garnett's career is in jeopardy. How the hell is he not considered to be in a decline at this point? He's likely falling off a cliff.

He's in decline, sure. "Falling off a cliff" might be a bit extreme, but the fact is that he's logged almost 40,000 minutes in his career (as a comparison, he's only about 400 minutes behind Shaq for his career). He can't have too much left in the tank.

Here's his last three years, per 36 minutes, just as a reference point.

Falling off a cliff right now. He very possibly might never be the same again. Knee injuries, especially ones on guys who have a lot of mileage and years on them like KG, tend to do that to basketball careers.

Prior to the injury?

No. Right now. But I see you were speaking within the context of if he had never gotten hurt. That's a tricky way to look at it, though, because he may have just been a ticking time bomb.

And KG isn't a normal 32-year-old either since this is his 14th seasons in the league. It's not like he spent 3 or 4 years in college playing 35 games. He's definitely wearing down.
