And of those 996 major league at bats over half of them came at the ripe ages of 22 and 23 when he was rushed onto the Major league team.

His OBP is .301 since the age of 24.

You can make all the excuses you want. The man has proven he cannot hit major-league pitching with any remotely acceptable level of skill. Few, if any, people who hit like he has ever turn into acceptable hitters.

I don't even care if Miles is a better hitter than Cedeno, I still hate him and think he's awful on this club.

Cedeno is garbage with an upside.

Miles is just plain garbage.

I hate to jinx it, since raving about Harden's first inning was followed by...not raving....

But the bullpen has been strong so far today.

Unfortunately, so has Marquis :sorry:

Look Im not saying Cedeno is some stud or whatever, but to think he cant be as productive or better than Aaron Miles because of 590 AB's when he was 22 and 23 years old is foolish. Cedeno has never been given the regular playing time like Aaron Miles has outside of when he was 23 years old, and under a complete idiot of a manager.

He's proven at *every* opportunity that he can't hit as well as Aaron Miles.

The first 600 PAs don't count because he was too young. The second 400 don't count because he didn't get regular enough playing time.

It never counts, apparently, until he starts hitting (which he probably never will).

So you just completely ignore what hes done in the minors, and think he cant do even half of that at the major league level?

Something that hasn't been mentioned...

Cedeno was dumb as a box of rocks as far as "baseball smarts" goes. He really made a lot of head scratching moves on the basepaths and defensively. Dude got thrown out on a walk.

He also had a dumb manager, whos team regularly made head scratching moves on the basepaths and defensively.

Maybe not here it wasn't mentioned.

But it's been discussed and fought over on nsbb many times.

Which part of the minors counts?

His entire minor league career, or 600 PAs spread across sporadic playing time in two seasons?

I'm guessing you *only* want to count when he was good?

It's the Matt Murton defense -- It only counts when Matt hits well.

Notably, Matt's record since leaving the Cubs really shows how wrong Lou was about him.

Well no question, but I'm not talking about he attempted a steal when he shouldn't have. He made a lot of stupid plays that the manager had nothing to do with.

Im late to the party. Whats the deal with Harden? Thats an ridiculous line.

Looked great and was hitting his spots, but for whatever reason, the Rockies were able to sit on their pitches and make Harden pay.

cedeno/miles argument aside, today's lineup is why i think the derosa trade was a bad idea. i'm all for getting fontenot more ABs, but i'd sure as hell rather have derosa in the lineup than aaron miles or reed johnson versus RHP.

That's true, but Theriot has made a lot of dumbass moves as well, but those were "gutsy".

The biggest one against Cedeno was sliding past the bag on ball 4. But that was more weird than stupid.

Upside? Yeah right. I thought the kid had potential but he's proven to be a miserable hitter. I hate Miles but I'm also glad Cedeno is gone.
