Can we just hate Miles and want a better player than Ronny Cedeno please?

EDIT: Oh sure Keener, you just made that post seconds before mine on PURPOSE! ;)

How many straight years have we led the league in K's for pitching. Something like 7.. I was wondering how in the world we did this?

Yeah we had some flame throwers like K Wood, Prior, Z, Clement, and now Harden.. but there was years none of those pitchers but Z had a significant amount of starts.

We've led the league since 2001. That stat implies it's an organizational philosophy to bring in strikeout pitchers.

Ronny Cedeno has 996 MLB plate appearances and a .288 OBP. Aaron Miles has matched that with batting average alone.

Neither is great, but give me the guy that has more upside, plays better defense, hits for more power, and doesnt cost 2.5 million for 2 year.

Upside? He's 26. He is who he is.

Defense? Yes.

Power? Yes, but not enough to make up for his abysmal OBP.

Money? Yes, Miles is stupidly overpaid. But he's still a better hitter than Ron Cedeno.

He's now entering is who he is territory. But he can still show improvement the next couple years without it being a huge surprise. Theriot went from crap to acceptable between his age 27 and 28 seasons.

GIVE HIM SOME AT BATS LOU! What more does he need to do, just freaking play him

He needs to learn to play 3rd base. :P

Ryan Theriot's "crap" was much, much better than Cedeno's.

At 26, Cedeno has 996 MLB PAs with an OBP of .288.

At 26, Theriot had 760 MLB PAs with an OBP of .337.

In over 200 more Ab's it wouldnt have been very hard for Theriots OBP to drop down those 50 points. Kind of skewing it saying it was much much better.

Also considering the age Cedeno was when he reached the majors for a large majority of those sporadic at bats.

Yea apparently. I just figured hed be the backup OF when Bradley did his injury thing during the year, but apparently its Reed Johnson. Even though Johnsons numbers vs Rightys in his career arent very good.

Theriot would have had to go 22 for 236, an OBP of under .100. It would have been incredibly hard.

Cedeno has ~600 minor league PAs spread across two seasons that said he might be able to hit in the major leagues, and 996 that say emphatically that he can't. He just can't. He's awful.

Oh come on...its very unlikely that his OBP is going to drop 50 points in 200 PA. He would have to get on base less than 21 times in a span of 236 plate appearances to drop to Cedeno's level.

Please tell me you are kidding.

Theriot would need to get on base ~30 times or less in the next 236 PAs order to reach .288 OBP of Cedeno. In short, it would be very very hard for Theriot's OBP to drop 50 points by the time he has 996 PAs.

And of those 996 major league at bats over half of them came at the ripe ages of 22 and 23 when he was rushed onto the Major league team.

I don't even care if Miles is a better hitter than Cedeno, I still hate him and think he's awful on this club.

I hate to jinx it, since raving about Harden's first inning was followed by...not raving....

But the bullpen has been strong so far today.

Surely the Nats would be willing to part with Ronnie Belliard. Angel Berroa would be a nice plan B.
