Read As They See Em, great book on MLB umpires. These guys are better than most think.

The idea that a business could not fire a single employee for being bad at one of the most desirable jobs in the country for a 20 year period seems absurd, especially when we can watch, day to day, the calls that Angel Hernandez blows that a large majority of other umpires do not.

 

I'm not arguing that point with you, the book explores the issue of how hard it is to replace umpires. I'm just one who believes, despite the criticism, they still have a better view over anyone else, including those watching on HD cameras.

Dempster on his usual 20 pitches per inning pace. Definitely the major problem with our staff, if we could just get one starter who conserves pitches it would be great.

I wonder if last years awesomeness at fielding was fluke. I feel like the defense has caused an abnormal number of bad plays that favor the opponent this week. I could never understand why this team was rated so highly in defensive metrics last year. I have heard a lot of people mention a likely regression for this years team. I am not saying we will have a bad d.. Just an average one.
