Yeah, he seems like he could blow up at any minute. He is definitely intense. I love it.

I liked his reaction on the shot down the 1b line that should have been called fair.

For those who didn't see it. He threw his hands up but quickly turned around and walked back to the plate. (and Lou then gave the ump an earfull from the dugout). Milton ended up walking and when he did he flipped his bat so hard i'm pretty sure it could have been used as an airplane propeller.

I'm pretty sure that bat flip was the reason he tore his ACL two years ago.

It was a comment made sort of in passing, but Steve Stone took one of his usual subtle jabs at the Cubs today when being asked about Dewayne Wise's disappointing performance this year. More or less said, "Milton Bradley is doing the same thing (going hitless) but being paid $30M to do it."

Gimme a break.

I heard that this morning on The Score and thought it was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. What's Wise's OBP compared to Bradley's?

Beyond that, it's just dumb to even try to compare the two players.

It's a decent attempt to deflect criticism from their own guy.

When I think of DeWayne Wise, I immediately think of Milton Bradley as well. The similarity is haunting.

I guess a White Sox fan will listen to that and go "take that Cub fans!"

So, mission accomplished.

LOL, Wise is a career .209 hitter with a career .625 OPS. What the hell did they expect him to do? Meanwhile, Bradley led the AL in OPS last year. Stone is a bitter ass anyway. I hope he's miserable in the Sox booth this year with that blowhard Hawk.

Say what you will, but he called Hawk out on his BS tonight. Sox pitcher made a blatent balk, and wa called and Hawk did his usual grumbling about it, and Stone totally called him out on it, and all Hawk could say was well I thought he stepped toward first and not the plate.

Thanks for reminding me just how much I hate Hawk.

That's hilarious. And yes, Milton Bradley is awesome. I really hope he can stay somewhat healthy all season.

I think we should wait until Bradley actually starts hitting before we start to blow him. Walks are nice, but he's always drawn walks. He hasn't always hit.

OK, lets try this again. If Milton stays around next year, which I really hope he does and he does what hes doing now, I can guarantee he wont be getting booed or snickered at by waiters or whatever. I really, really hope he isnt railroaded out of town.

I will be completely stunned if Bradley is a Cub next spring. Not that he shouldn't be, I just think he's the perfect scapegoat for a lost season.

If Bradley goes, and the Cubs end up eating a lot of salary, and get nothing in return, there is 0 reason for Jim Hendry to keep his job. If your Tom Ricketts, and the first big thing to come out of your regime is that you GM just flushed 20 million down the toilet, thats just not good.

Hopefully the GM won't be around by that time to make any stupid decisions to cover his own ass. \:D/

I think another GM is more likely to get rid of Bradley than Hendry. Hendry likes Bradley and that might give him a chance of staying.

If a new GM comes in, he probably won't be able to get over the fact that getting rid of Bradley would be unbelievable PR (the symbolism of the new era) even if his production doesn't warrant him leaving.

I find it interesting to see that Bradley's splits have been getting much, much closer lately. For all the talk about giving up hitting from the left side of the plate, he has a chance of actually being more productive from the left side by the end of the year:

Batting left: .244/.402/.418

Batting right: .333/.387/.448

Don't get me wrong..he is always likely to be better batting right-handed. But I'm guessing that one of the things that will be remembered about Bradley this year is his struggle batting left-handed, and it likely won't end up being true (that's due partially to an absurd walk rate from the left side, but he also has had a lot more power from that side).

I guess I just have a feeling a new GM would rather make a splash with a big signing than by just running a guy out of town. While that story might get you good press today, what about mid season '10 when the replacement is OPS'ing a hundred and fifty points less?

There's also the fact that the hatred of Milton by the bleacher bums might chill out if certain hack writers didn't get a kick out of inciting them.

He could do both. Run Milton out of town and make a big splash by signing Matt Holliday.

I don't think there's going to be a new GM, not this offseason. I felt the new owner was going to come in and give the current regime a year, give or take a few months depending on when he actually bought the team. Of course I thought that was going to be a long time ago, but that's another story.

I think Hendry is here to stay for at least another year.
