Hoffpauir with an rbi double in the first inning as he hooked an inside offspeed pitch down the line, but kept it fair in the corner.

And now Hoff makes a "spectacular" diving catch in the rf-cf gap for the second out of the bottom half.

And with the help of hoff's catch, demp sets the A's down in order in the first.

Cajun connection leads to a second run. Theriot hits a leadoff triple and Fontenot lines a single to right to score the run.

Theriot again...drives in a run on (you guessed it) an opposite field single. The pitcher played into his game by giving him a strike low and away with Reed Johnson in scoring position.

Does Theriot actually go the opposite way a lot more often than he pulls the ball, or is that another case of my perception lying to me?

Kewl. Thanks for the link. Not sure why MLB.com doesn't have the little green icon on the scoreboard, which is where I'm used to seeing the gameday links.

No problem, although I post that link with the caveat that it doesn't update very often and the pitch counts should not be trusted!

The Cubs should face Edgar Gonzalez more often.

I find it interesting how much better Scales' 2008 was than any other year he's had. His OPS was more than 100 points higher than his career average. And he's been around for awhile.

the cajun connection is en fuego

Fontenot needs to stay hot. I fear Aaron Miles.

unless fontenot craps the bed for the first few weeks, i don't fear aaron miles. what i fear about aaron miles is him getting a lot of playing time when a-ram gets hurt.
