Henderson is a lottery pick because this is shaping up to be the weakest draft in the past 8-10 years. When scrubs like BJ Mullens are coming out as freshmen, you know it's a year you should've traded your draft pick

Mullens would've been a lottery pick last year.

Yikes. The dude is the definition of "meh".

He's huge and shot like 64% from the field. The bad Lopez twin was a pick away from the lottery last year. Anyone who's 7 feet and not an Aaron Gray like stiff is an auto-1st rounder.

Henderson is also super athletic. He'll definately play in the NBA. Raisin is also right, no one can guard a good NBA 2 guard. The guy who I think has his work cut out for him to even see the court is Steph Curry.

Little late in posting but, damn there went on of my FF teams - Memphis - I was really looking forward to a UConn - Memphis match up. Thought it could have been one the best games in this year' tournament.

Did anyone get the feeling Purdue never had a chance? Sure they hung in there but, you knew UConn was going to win.

Did Scheyer end up like 3-20?

I was an Illini fan who wanted to see him in orange but, after seeing play I'm glad he's not. He doesn't appear capable of much more than hanging around the perimeter looking for a three. Then there's flopping (I believe that's more a Duke teaching), faces and sounds don't know if I could have put up with that from someone as one dimensional as Scheyer.

love seeing duke get spanked. god they looked awful last night.

missouri is really, really good. they put up a flippin hundred on the best D in the country. sick. they might just win it all.

Holy kool aid drinking Batman!!! They beat them because they played within an eyelash of the game of their lives, Memphis' defense wasn't that good to begin with (they play scrubs the entire year and aren't challenged, which explains their defensive numbers), and neither team made their free throws. Plus they were going against an inexperienced back court. Evans played very well, but made a lot of mistakes a more veteran guy or a real PG wouldn't make.

Mizzou is a good team and is certainly playing their best basketball right now, but I don't think they have a chance against UConn, or whoever comes out of the MSU/Louisville game (assuming they both win).

Posted

Should have stuck with my initial gut instinct and picked Mizzou over Memphis. Stupid Pomeroy and efficiency ratings convinced me that Memphis was something I didn't believe they were. Oh well.

UConn-Mizzou should be a very interesting matchup. If UConn controls tempo, they will dominate inside and win. If Mizzou convinces UConn to run -- this could be a distinct possibility as UConn has always been known as an uptempo team -- Thabeet could spend the entire game at midcourt turning in circles as the other nine guys race back and forth.

Scheyer is not one dimensional. You can't really judge a player by his worst game of the season (same goes for Henderson).

i'm really not trying to jinx us tonight, but for the record, rick pitino has never lost a sweet 16 game. arizona fans have been coming on cardinal message boards and have told us that arizona has its three main players who play 35+ minutes a game and everyone else fills in. i think that's going to be a big factor.

i believe that the defense needs to control both guards to completely disrupt the offense for arizona. this is something that has happened pretty much all season long. during the regular season when pitt came to freedom hall, our guards wore out levance fields. louisville won that game. the question is whether or not arizona's big three can overcome all of that ballpressure that our guards are going to be putting on theirs.

Dude's 7 feet tall and can move faster than a tortoise. Those type of guys ALWAYS get drafted in the lottery.

He's a lottery pick.

Really... is this sarcasm?

I always thought of him as an undersized power forward. Is there any possible way he can play the two in the NBA? Cause there's not a chance in hell he's big enough for the three to guard guys like LeBron, Pierce and Carmelo. Hell, I'm not even sure he could guard a good two guard either.

you say this like you've seen him play, yet you were four inches off in your scouting report

look, no one can guard a good 2 in the nba... it's the nba

henderson isn't going to be great, or likely even good, but it's a weak draft and he has some talent

IMB and illiniguy nailed.

Weak draft, great athlete, decent size for a 2. He'll be ok as a 2 in the NBA. Obviously you'd prefer Harden if you're drafting a 2.

Considering everyone was shooting bricks except Hummel to start, no not really.

Agreed. Scheyer actually had to run the point for a good majority of this year. I make not like the kid, but he can play.

How did Purdue lose with a 1st team All-Galaxy player on their team?

I think you have some major issues with Hummel. He's the reason it wasn't a 25 point blowout and yet you felt compelled to come in here and bring him up.

He'd be fine if he could play the 1 in the NBA.

I don't think he can. I think he is too much of a scorer to suddenly turn into a pass first point guard. Plus I think he is way too small and not super quick. I just can't see him guarding a Chris Paul or Deron Williams. I think if he goes lottery, somebodies going to be very unhappy with him. But, he has the one skill that's always important.

He's going to eat Bubba Chisholm in the offseason to put on weight. CJ Jackson gave him the idea following the mysterious disappearance of Steve Holdren.

It's really not a bad plan.

WTF? Kentucky is really going to fire Gillespie. He's been there two years.

Kentucky's expectations are astronomically unrealistic. They ostensibly forced out one of the top-10 coaches in the nation just two years ago.

From what I've heard, it's almost as much based on off the floor stuff than actual performance. Though missing the tourney for the first time in forever certainly doesn't help.

They knew about the drinking before they hired him. Is there something else?
