I realy can't stand anything about UConn. Their coach is a sleaze, their players get into lots of trouble off the court, and even those that don't (Thabeet) are complete ninnies on the court.

I think I'm the only one in here rooting for UConn.

I am, but only because I think they have a better shot at beating UNC. I like MSU as a team better.

I'll be the first one to go out on this limb, but I think Michigan State would beat UNC Monday night. That said, I still think UConn will pull this one out.

What makes you think that a second MSU-UNC game would be at least 36 points different than the first time the two teams met?

A healthy Goran Suton would make the game closer.

36 points closer? Probably not. But he would given MSU a better chance against UNC.

I'm sure a second MSU-UNC game would be closer. Izzo is too good of a coach to not make some adjustments to their game plan and fix some things that went wrong the first time. But 35 points is still 35 points and unless you've got a couple big-time stars who missed the game, I'm not sure any team could make up that much of a difference.

While I don't think MSU would win that game, I hate when people make arguments like that. MSU might have had their worst game in that first meeting. UNC might have played their best. Just because one team got smoked in one game doesn't mean they have no chance in a rematch.

I understand your point, but you dont think its possible UNC caught MSU on their worst night? I mean that same MSU team that lost by 35 points is giving UConnn a hell of a game, and has already beaten Louisville.

I mean Illinois beat Mizzou by around 30 early in the year too, do you think the same woulda been true had they played in the tourney?

Ha maybe UConn should go for the ball after blocking a shot instead of trying to be "hard" and mean mugging the MSU players. HAHA

Based on Mizzou/Illinois' history...probably...

I love how everyone stood around waiting for the foul to be called after that block.

I'm not arguing that UNC would beat MSU by 35 if they played on Monday in the title game. What I'm trying to figure out is why someone would think Michigan State would actually win the game. Obviously Exile thinks it, otherwise he wouldn't have said it (and I'm not saying he's wrong, just figuring out his thought process and reasoning).

Like I said, 35 points is a huge margin. If it was 20, sure, I could see the losing team coming back and winning the next game. But this was 35 at a neutral/MSU home setting in Detroit. O_O said that Suton didn't play and that will certainly help MSU. But he's not enough to make up 35 points.

My best guess would be UNC by 10-15 with them in control for much of the game.

Citing the previous outcome is a terribly illogical argument.* Surely no one thinks that UNC is 35-points better than Michigan State. Surely no one believes that result predetermines the next one (an example that comes to mind is UNLV-Duke from 1990 to 1991). Even so, not having Suton is a pretty big deal. The Spartans are obviously on quite a roll right now. Pride also shouldn't be underestimated. I would envision a game were Michigan State can do no wrong.

*Edit: This was a poor sentence in which my meaning wasn't apparent. Obviously a previous result matters -- a lot, actually. I simply meant that it's not proof that UNC automatically wins the next one.

It's a stupid point. Being blown out doesn't preclude you from competing/winning the second time around. Roy's teams in particular, because of the style they play, are always ahead of the curve early in the season. Add in the fact the team is primarily upperclassmen used to their system, and it's not surprising they boat race so many teams in the non-con.

Like I said, I think UNC would win a rematch. But it's hardly out of the realm of possibility for MSU to win.

I love how the announcers are covering for Jim Calhoun. It's painfully hilarious.

He's got a CLEAN dossier. Except for when A.J. Price, who's ON THE FREAKING TEAM NOW, joined up with Marcus Williams to steal some laptops.

What a joke.

Marcus Williams didn't steal laptops; he was merely engaging in distributive justice! He should be commended for his compassion and sportsmanship!

Ya Im definatly not saying MSU would wiin, but citing a previous game early in the year is pointless. That game means nothing now, and MSU is playing some of their best ball of the year right now. Lucious is a freshman who has grown, and this MSU team is playing some of the best D in the country right now.

I can't believe Adrien didn't get anything called against him on that play in the first half. What a bitch.
