Some of those should definitily not be on there. Pierre is still an average CF who is paid less than 10 mil per. That's not bad, not good either, but not bad. Overbay getting paid 6 mil a year is actually a pretty good contract to me.There are a lot of other ones like that. Zito takes the cake though due to pay level and length left on deal.

And if you mean Andruw Jones by writing Andruw he's on there right after Kevin Millwood.

Juan Pierre is not an average CF. First off he's playing LF. Secondly he neither hits nor fields like an average CF. His only above average skill(of particular importance) right now is his baserunning

I would call hitting around .290, never striking out, committing 2 or 3 errors a year, and getting a lot of SB's at the top of the order right about average.

There's no doubt he's overpaid but he's not one of the top 45 overpaid.

He's well below average offensively, has a very poor arm, and while he steals a lot of bases, he doesn't get on base at anywhere near an acceptable rate for someone with his lack of power. And while he may not strikeout a lot, those constant weak grounders to second aren't any more fun to watch.

ETA: I will add that while his OPS has been right around average for centerfielders throughout his career, a lot of that has to do with his production from 2000-2004. Since then, his OBP has tailed off quite a bit.

Uh oh, Pierzynski made the list... look out for the wrath of the White Sox fans. I especially enjoyed the guy who called into the Score yesterday asking whether they thought A.J. would make the Hall of Fame.

Let's not forget that Pierre's pitiful arm was one of the stated reasons for signing Jones to man CF, thereby compounding an already terrible contract.

A bad contract that necessitates another? How Coletti continues to be employed mystifies me.

It was probably the same guy who said AJ was better than Soto last year, because he calls a better game. And maybe the same guy who said Alexei Ramirez was robbed of the ROY.

Don't forget for every 20 bases Pierre steals, he gets thrown out about 15 times.

His 429 SB's to 143 CS contradicts that. He has a 104-27 ratio the last two years. Steals aren't overly important but he is still an elite one.

He's not only top 45, but he's very high in that top 45.

Call me crazy, but I think Carlos Lee has been earning his paycheck rather well to this point

Yeah, I agree but I think they are assuming he's going to get fatter and crappier as the contract gets fatter with it being backloaded. But yeah at the moment I think he's more than justified the dollars.

They've been saying that for 5 years. Same thing about Albert Pujols and his annual mysterious performance threatening injuries

Yeah. I like Carlos.

I still think with Carlos Lee and Aramis Ramirez in the middle of the Cubs lineup you've got a whole different story. Two legitimate power hitters that are relatively hard to strike out for power hitters in the middle of the lineup, that looks good to me.
