Who wants a Mark Prior update?

Mark Prior, who underwent shoulder surgery last June, didn't throw batting practice as planned Saturday.

"We're going on how he feels," manager Bud Black said. "Here again, we're being cautious." Anything Prior gives the Padres this season would be seen as a huge bonus. They're surely not counting on him.

he should have enough money from his signing bonus and then his years with the cubs. he's got a business degree so he will be fine down the road if he goes into something outside of baseball. he's still young; might as well try to get healthy and make a comeback if that's what he really wants to do.

I really don't care what Prior does. But if I spent my entire life either training for or working in a profession I'm no longer physically able to do, I'd start to consider managing my time and energy in a more productive fashion.

For some reason I see Prior coming back in a few years, when he is an afterthought really (although he kind of is now) and being a decent pitcher. Or maybe that is just what I hope he does. Nobody deserves the career he's had.

If he spends the next few years trying to pitch and it doesn't work out and he ends up giving in, great. But if all this work let's him pitch even one more season, he probably thinks it's worth it. I think you're jumping the gun a little bit. There's still a chance right now, so Mark's still exploring the possibility. A year or two down the road, he'll probably have trouble getting a team to give him a chance so he'll get the message and bow out. I really doubt he doesn't realize the situation he's in.

i'm with tarver. prior is, and has been for awhile now, done. i respect his drive to continue to fight back but there has to come a point where he realizes that he just can't do it.
