The Cards are now less gritty

According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals have released Adam Kennedy. They'll still be responsible for his $4MM salary. Skip Schumaker has been working out at second base, and could play there if the Cards don't add anyone to replace Kennedy.

 

This is good news for Orlando Hudson, who has another possible bidder for his services.

He's played 6 games on the infield in 8 professional seasons, all of them at third base and all of them 5 years ago.

I will be shocked if the Cards sign Hudson. They have spent this entire offseason not spending a dime. They are not going to drop Kennedy and pay his salary and sign another guy to play his position.
