phillips = less joe morgan. ANYTHING that = less joe morgan is a net gain to me.

I have to disagree. First off, his presence doesn't mean less Joe Morgan. It probably means more totals words spoken by broadcasters, but it doesn't mean less Joe Morgan. Joe has gone through prolonged periods of silence before on broadcasts. My guess is he'll do the same stuff and speak just as often.

Steve: Joe, when you think about teams bringing in runs with 2 outs, what do you think of ?

Joe: I think about experience! A veteran ballclub with guys who know how to hit with 2 outs

Steve: Definitely. This Red Sox team is experienced in those spots.

When Phillips talks about a player, I'm reminded of Victor Zambrano.

Why?

As a GM he traded Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano.

you're right about one thing, a general manager did trade scott kazmir for victor zambrano.

To be more specific, Phillips was fired as Mets' GM about a year before the trade. Phillips was fired in June 2003; the trade was in June 2004.

That was a pretty bad trade though. I recall one time on an ESPN broadcast of a Cubs/Mets game, they were talking about Victor Zambrano, and then they showed a shot of Carlos Zambrano.

However, the Jason Bay trade that Philliips made is pretty bad.

Phillips did however try trading David Wright for Jose Cruz, Jr.

Failure to complete a bad trade.

Phillips fails at failing.

Hey, nobody said he was a good GM.

Phillips should've been fired for trying to do it and the other should be fired for not doing it
