that's not how the field was arranged when the Bears played there, right? Didn't the field go home to center?

Shame

There's no goalpost in the east endzone. Instead, they attached uprights to the outfield wall.

So the OF wall is the back of the end zone? That sounds horribly dangerous

Not quite, but close: http://twitpic.com/35lgmw

It looks like there's enough room, but perhaps it's too close to the wall for the installation.

That entire picture screams dangerous. I can just see someone going for a tackle and run head first into the wall.

It was supposed to be a little more slanted towards CF. Not sure what happened.

Here's how it looks today: http://plixi.com/photos/original/56305049

That goal post on the outfield wall is hilarious. I guess we'll see fans catching footballs out on Sheffield.

Northwestern and the Cubs are putting on a whole production on Sheffield for fans before, during, and after the game, including a bunch of TVs, bar areas, etc. They're also advertising an area to catch FGs, though I wonder how they'll handle all the balls that will fly through there during warmups.

This worries me:

They added padding (and why aren't the leaves fall colors?), but that removed room behind the endzone.

I know it's going to bring in money, but the more pics I see, the more I think this is a really stupid idea. I hope no one gets seriously injured.

Yeah thats really weird.

Guess there's gonna be some ground rules. Will someone be able to use the padding as a spring board to catch an errant pass? Is the rule gonna be if they are touching the padding it's not a catch? It's kind of weird because normally you can be falling out of the end zone to make a catch and still get a foot down. But in this case, doing that will case you to touch the wall thus negating the catch.

ESPN announced that Gameday will be at Wrigley Field on Saturday. They've only done one Northwestern game before (1995 vs. Iowa), and that was taped inside because it was too cold out.

The move to Wrigley has so far been gold for the NU athletic department. Now they get a 3 hour commercial out of it.

Are they gonna be on the field or are they shutting down Waveland or something? I can't imagine the gates will be open that early, how are they gonna get a crowd?

Waveland is already being shutdown for "Wildcat Way." Gates don't open until 12:30, so hopefully they'll be able to take over a parking lot across for the marquee or something. I'm waiting to hear the details.

Though who knows. Maybe they'll take a chance and open up the outfield for the show.

Yeah I'm thinking the McDonalds parking lot would be good.

Actually an awesome thing would be to be on a rooftop, but then I guess the crowd cant really be in the background. Another possible spot would be the players parking lot where the triangle building is supposed to go. They could also do it across the street from Murphy's in that parking lot, near the bleacher entrance. Either way I'm really excited. I'm thinking about picking up a couple of $25 SRO tickets and be around for all the festivities.

They just announced it will indeed by set up on the McDonald's parking lot.
