2009 Chicago Bears offseason

Yeah, that article is pretty much the equivalent of a board troll. Just some idiot trying & hoping to stir up trouble. It's too bad the media feels the need to try to upend the Bears this year, but I think so far this team has done a great job just letting it all roll off.

 

Anything Cutler says or does is going to get treated that way by some of the media people. I think the main cure for that is to play great this season and have the team do really well.

 

Anyone else going to watch the Broncos-49ers game on NFLN tonight? I'm very interested in seeing how Orton does. Not that I'm expecting or wanting him to fail, it isn't like that. I just want to see how he looks in that offense.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but tomorrow's Bears game will be broadcast in HD on NFL Network.

 

The ChicagoBears.com schedule only has the local fox affiliate for some reason.

I just heard on NFL Live that the Broncos led the NFL in turnovers in the Red Zone last year. That sounds a big concerning, but I guess that's definitely not all on Cutler, there are a number of factors that lead to turnovers. Also I'd like to see how many were INTs and how many were fumbles lost.

 

Im not here to hate on Cutler but sometimes he will make some terrible terrible throws (Brett Favreish).

There was a point last year where he looked like he would be an average NFL QB. It's not over because he had a bad game today. He's learning a new system and its just preseason. I mean yeah, throwing 3 INTs is not ideal results, but that's why they play practice games before the real ones.

You can say "it's only the preseason"...but he's not going to face any easier defensive schemes than what he sees in the preseason. 3 INT's in 3 possessions? There's no good way to put a positive spin on that. It's bad.

All I'm saying is that at least these games don't count. IIRC, Orton had a hard time learning the Bears system his first year as well. They gave him a really simple playbook to use until like mid-season. Unfortunately for him, if he has another game like that, he's not gonna have a chance to develop. Oh well, Orton was not exactly one of the big pieces of the trade for them.

The Bears first preseason game is a lot like the WBC and any All Star game, in that I get really excited for it, but then the game/event starts and I quickly lose interest in it. I just want to see Jay Cutler in a Bears gameday uniform.

I didn't realize Brandon Lloyd signed with Denver. Once again, he looks like a preseason stud, as he has been his entire career.

 

On an unrelated note, I just found out last night when I changed my cable package last week I gained access to the NFL Network, NBA TV and the NHL Network. I am really really enjoying access to this (I already had access to the MLB Netowrk)

What makes the situation worse for the Broncos is, if they do receive the first pick in the 2010 Draft, it will be going to Seattle in exchange for a second round pick. They will have the Bears first rounder, but there is a huge drop in talent between top 5 QBs and late first round QBs.
