Looks like Plax isnt goin to court until 2010. Get him Jerry!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4254545

Yeah, JA should be all over this. But the one thing that bothers me is that Plax said he wants to play for the Jets so that he can "stick it to the Giants." Hey Plax you know how to stick it to the Giants? Sign with the Bears lead them to playoffs and a possible deep run. Something the Jets are at best 50-50 at doing right now. Better yet the Bears don't have to face a NE Patriots team twice a yr or have to face them until the Super Bowl.

I don't think Plax is afraid of the Patriots. His career has been defined by his play vs. the Pats in the Superbowl. I think playing that Pats twice would sway him to the Jets. I also think the Jets would be willing and able to pay him more money. The Bears have shown they are willing to open the purse strings recently, but I think the Jets will still offer more, as I'm sure they think they are just as close as the Bears. It would also give them a great WR to pair w/ their rookie QB.

I think the only way Plax comes to the Bears is if he is really motivated by another ring. I don't like saying this, but Plax would make the Bears clear favorites in the NFC, he won't do that for the Jets in the AFC. However, there is a strong chance Plax is motivated by money at this point. He has the ring. He has the legal problems. And if he avoids jail, he's looking at getting the last long-term contract he will ever see in 2010.

Bears.com is probably my favorite team site ever right now. New articles typically once a day. New videos all the time.

They're supposedly going to take training camp coverage to new levels this year. We'll see.

NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on 850 KOA in Denver that Brandon Marshall asked Broncos owner Pat Bowlen for a trade during their meeting Friday.

Per Schefter, Bowlen asked Marshall to take some time to reconsider his stance. Marshall is not expected to back down, however, which means the Broncos are right back where they were with Jay Cutler. Though it's possible that a new contract could assuage Marshall, it's more likely that the receiver will continue to push for a trade. Perhaps the Bears will be interested.

A outstandingly bad offseason continues for the Denver Broncos.

Marshall for Boldin rumors in 3....2....1.....

Not sure why that would leave Boldin any happier than he is now... at least in AZ he can still put up the numbers to eventually get paid. Not gonna happen with Orton, which is something that Marshall clearly realizes.

Well AZ sure doesn't care whether Boldin is happy with the trade. I don't think he has an NTC does he? Maybe Denver doesn't want a "troublemaker" in return for Marshall, but that'd be the only problem I'd see there.

But Boldin would probably leave the Broncos in the same situation they'd be trying to get out of by dealing Marshall, with an unhappy player that probably wants out... :dunno:

Yeah...I see what you're getting at...and since neither team is ponying up the asked for cash, it might just end up being the same situation with diff players associated with diff teams. Anyway, I bet the rumors/discussions still happen.

Boldin just wants to get paid, right? If Denver pays him, he'll probably be happy. Marshall's problems with Denver are probably contract and Cutler related. If he goes to Arizona, gets paid and plays with a pro bowl QB, he's probably happy.

Right, but if Denver is willing to pay Boldin, why wouldn't they be willing to pay Marshall?

EDIT - Just read the part where you say it's probably also Cutler related. True, but considering this started with him asking for his contract to be reworked, I think that if that happened he would be satisfied. Who knows, though.

Maybe Boldin would take a shorter deal and Marshall wouldn't?

I don't know.

Would Marshall ever look good in a Bears uni, wow.

I don't see Denver ever trading him here after already having sent Cutler here.

Yeah, I'm just dreaming.

I actually think they MUST find a way to keep Marshall.

After losing Cutler, they just can't afford the appearance that every good player they have on offense is unhappy and wants to leave. There are plenty of Denver fans who are still steaming over Cutler. If Marshall joins the parade, they could be looking at no-shows, bad ticket sales, the whole bit.

I don't know, buy him a truckload of hookers or something.

Personally, I don't see the Bears having enough to pull off a Brandon Marshall trade (boy, oh boy that would be great, and be the perfect ending to a wonderful offseason), unless the Bears dip into the 2011 draft picks. We see how well that has worked for Washington.

I do agree with the poster who said the Broncos "must" keep Marshall, or McDaniels and the Broncos lose a lot of credibility. Now with that said, I believe Marshall becomes an UFA next yr (or RFA if not CBA is agreed upon) so his time in Denver is prolly coming to an end, at least to Marshall himself.

I'd love for them to trade Marshall to the Jets, as that would leave the Bears as Burress' most attractive landing spot.

Hmmm....interesting idea. Marshall dealt to NY Jets, Marvin Harrison's name is starting the make the rounds with TB, and Plax to the Bears? All get their coveted reciever. Pipedream, but one that COULD happen.

Worth noting, via rotoworld:

Contrary to an earlier New York Post report, the Newark Star-Ledger writes that the Jets' interest in Plaxico Burress has cooled.

The Jets have a need at No. 2 receiver, but the team reportedly believes the trio of Brad Smith, Chansi Stuckey and David Clowney is collectively adequate. The Star-Ledger believes the Jets are concerned about Plax's "bad-boy" attitude despite his obvious talent.

Edit: Also via roto:

Free agent WR Drew Bennett will work out with the Bucs on Tuesday.

He's likely competing with fellow veteran D.J. Hackett, who is also working out on Tuesday. The Bucs are seeking a veteran upgrade at third receiver.

If this stuff is legit it sounds like it wouldn't be hard at all for Jerry to sign him.

I don't see why the Jets would do a Marshall deal if Plax is still available. Why would they give up actual talent when they can get Plax for just the cash?
