David Haugh has an article in the Trib this morning about how the Bears aren't locked in on WR for their 2nd round pick. But with all the mis-information out there, I'm pretty much ignoring most of that noise. I was interested in this tidbit near the end though.

Misplaced or not, the Bears still have faith in Earl Bennett, a third-round pick of 2008. Coaches and front-office types believe Cutler when he says he can get the best out of Bennett given their history together at Vanderbilt. They consider '08 a redshirt year and it has been pointed out Bernard Berrian, another former third-rounder, caught only 15 passes his rookie season and only 13 the following year before blossoming.

I can't believe somebody feels the need to write such a blurb. Why would anybody suggest faith in a player they drafted last year is misplaced, when we never saw him play? The beat writers all took the bait when the Bears decided Mark Bradley wasn't a good enough practice player to deserve playing time, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide Bennet stinks since the geniuses that run the Bears offense decided he shouldn't play last year.

I am also not willing to give up on Bennett yet. I just don't have enough information to make a judgement either way.

Of course that's what they are thinking. The media in Chicago jumps to conclusions all on their own, then pressures the Bears to fit those conclusions. They do it all the time. It would be no surprise if they did it with Bennett, despite having no actual information if he can play or not.

Everyone's an expert. Except.......they aren't.

I wore my Cutler jersey to an arena football game here in town tonight and I got quite a few reactions from the locals. Mainly "where did you get that????" \:D/

It did reassure me that not everyone in Fort Wayne has abandoned the Bears for the evil Colts bandwagon.

We played Chicago tonight. I was kind of surprised to see that Chicago even has a team in a small time league like this.

Hey it is something to do on a Saturday night and I had free tickets to my company's luxury suite. \:D/

Sweet. I hope he never throws out the first pitch at the other baseball team in Chicago, cause he would look not to good wearing gray and black.

Is there any word out there that he's a Cubs fan. because the hat he's wearing isn't the one they would give him for free, so he must have gotten it himself.

what a bitter, self-absorbed a-hole.

The comments didn't seem that bad to me. The most objectionable thing I heard was that Denver is such a great football town, as if it is better than Chicago. I'm sure Denver's good, but they can't hold a candle to Chicago's love affair with the Bears. Not even close, in any way, shape, or form.

But it's not like he ripped Cutler -- he just said he would have stayed, that's all. More power to you Jake, but Jay's not you. Oh -- and I doubt Denver wants you back.

Anquan Boldin please....

I don't want them going out and paying alot for a FA WR or one in a trade...unless that WR is Boldin.

like i said, he's a self-absorbed jerk. everything is always about him, and he created many a soap opera when he was in denver.

What the hell do we have left to trade for Boldin

2111 and 2112 first round picks.

That is a future I would not mind mortgaging.

Your grandkids will forever rue the Anquan Boldin deal, however.

I didn't know you could trade picks 102 years in advance

Okay, then the 2087 and the 2094 picks then. I think we still have them both.
