Sabean - Worst GM in MLB.

How can you portray a GM who is holding Omar Vizquel's place at SS until Omar's grandson is ready to take over as this horrible person?

Schueler saw Howry pitch last season and believes part of the problem was a bad start to the season and overuse by manager Lou Piniella, particularly in the number of times Howry warmed up in the bullpen without pitching.

Ouch!

1y at 2.7m for Howry? I still think there's ahance this guy bounces back. But the Giants should be fixing their roster and getting younger. Instead of getting a 36 year old reliever almost 3m, who was bad last year.

Howry had a 4.50 first half era, and 6.93 second half era. So I don't know what the guy is talking about him having a bad start. Not to mention Piniella pitched Howry in less games and innings then he did from 05-07.

Watch him get the save in the clinching game 3 of the 2009 NLDS.

Who will the Giants be trading Howry to for that to happen?

I mean, maybe the Giants could...make the playof-

Back to the Cubs, obviously.

More obvious would be the team playing the Cubs in the '09 NLDS since the Cubs don't win games in the NLDS very often.

Dammit, why is Hendry losing all these FAs from a 97 win team? First Wood, now Howry. Next you're going to tell me we aren't bringing back Daryle Ward.

"We feel that Howry brings a tremendous amount of talented experience to our bullpen. He's pitched in big games and has proven to be both durable and very effective. With the previous addition of left-hander Jeremy Affeldt, we are pleased to have strengthened our 'pen, and these two veterans will help provide experience to our younger pitchers. We look forward to having Howry on our staff."

Howry's a good signing. Flyball pitcher in that park will do fine. Especially when I am of the belief that Bob will be better this year.

430 foot flyballs tend to fly out of just about every ballpark.

They're on the verge of locking up Renteria as well. Obviously they whiffed on Zito and since Bonds left/didn't want him back, they're building around a core that doesn't exist.

$5 says Howry's better than any reliever we have outside or Marmol, and perhaps Samardzija.

5 bucks? We have to do that just for giggles. I get every Cub reliever EXCEPT for Marmol and Samradzija and you get Howry.

Now, what is our IP threshold and what metrics do we use to measure? Oh, and this'll be 2009 vs. 2009, right?
