That blog was from December 9th.

And your point would be?

It's from over a month ago, before he or anyone else had any idea that the negotiations would break down. For all we know, he was signing "Go Cubs" because he was convinced it was a done deal. Didn't turn out that way.

If the guy sings "Go Cubs Go" it doesnt only mean that he sang it because he thought it was a done deal. He probably sang it because he was excited about possibly becoming a cub. I doubt that a week before he was doing the braves chop because they working on a deal to send him to atlanta. I think he's wanted to be a cub if he wasn't going to be a padre. I think people underestimate how much a lot of players would like to be cub because of the experience of playing in Wrigley Field. I'm not saying that as a cub fan but as a fan in general. I mean if i was a player i would either want to be a Cub, Red Sox, Met or Yankee because of the experience that comes with playing in those franchises.

Yeah I know. If he was still signing stuff "Go Cubs" now it might mean more to me. Maybe today he'd sign your hat with "Go Padres."

It just seems like old news to be bringing up now. Who knows what Peavy is thinking today, and what it might or might not mean. Maybe none of it means anything.

I'm pretty sure he wants to be a cub but he also prefers to stay a padre. Even when he was singing go cubs go, he was probably still happy about remaining a padre, i doubt he ever wanted to leave the organization but that might have changed with the way they treated him during the winter meetings. I wouldn't take as old news in my opinion because we may never know, he's might still be signing things with go cubs go today. It just so happened that this story became public which is why we heard about it.

the offseason is going so well that there are several Transaction thread pages dedicated to fodder over the merits of another teams pitcher singing 'go cubs go.' heh.

Peavy was signing autographs with "Go Cubs" in Las Vegas.

Has this been confirmed or is it just rumor?

The blog link was posted in response to this. I do not think it was intended to be viewed as new news but just conformation that Peavy was doing this while he was in Las Vegas.

Reading the last page worth of posts makes my head hurt. Some people are talking about Peavy singing the song "Go Cubs Go" and others are talking about him signing autographs with the inscription "Go Cubs" and there are posts responding to one about the other. I had heard about the former, but not the latter.

I know they look similar but "sing" and "sign" are different words.

Confirmed.

A friend of mine was in a group in a Las Vegas bar on Sunday night that included Jake Peavy (in the picture above with his wife Katie), and the word is Peavy is fired up to join the Cubs.

He's so excited, I hear, that at one point he sang "Go Cubs Go" at the bar after a "Brooks and Dunn" concert he attended with Roy Oswalt.

Did you read the original post? That guy said that Peavy was signing autographs "go cubs go", not singing "go cubs go." Huge difference.

The rumor is that he was singing the song, no signing autgraphs, and I give it about a 50/50 shot at being true... if that. That article doesn't really confirm anything.

The local radio stations were reporting that he was singing Go Cubs Go at a bar after a Brooks & Dunn concert, and I heard people call in that said they were there when it happened. This is the first I have heard about the autographs.

To make this silly argument more silly, that guy said signing autographs "Go Cubs" not "Go Cubs Go".

"According to a report from Yahoo Sports, "the Cubs remain optimistic they can acquire Peavy." He wants to pitch for the Cubs but "that deal became too complicated, involving three or four teams and numerous players."

XM Radio also reported on Thursday that Jake Peavy was signing autographs with 'Go Cubs' included while he was in Las Vegas earlier in the week."

Seriously, that small detail needed to be debated?

I thought you were just confusing the story. I didn't know anybody had reported that he was signing autographs like that.

I'm pretty sure the person that reported that on XM misunderstood what he was told though

Yeah, I agree. I'm pretty sure if something doesn't jibe with your versions of reality, it must be false. Or, at best. a 50/50 shot at being true.

Was that really necessary? You get mad for no reason.

But really, you think Peavy was signing autographs "Go Cubs"? Okay.

Mad? I love conversing with you. It's always good to get the final word from an all knowing entity. I become so much smarter. What the hell does it matter what I think? It was reported, but since you don't believe it it must not be true? Makes perfect sense.

EDIT: I forgot the,... "Okay (eye-roll included)"

wow. you need to stop constantly trying to start stuff with me. leave me alone dude, it's kind of creepy. nothing i said was hostile at all and you turn in into that, just because i don't believe a guy on xm reported something that really sounds bogus. i never said you didn't hear it or that you were lying. i said i didn't believe the guy that said it. you're so defensive that it's ridiculous.
