If I ever hear anyone ever say that we should have taken Beasley over Rose I am going to punch them in the face.

With the number one pick, you always take the best player, regardless of position.

Thing is, some people thought Beasley was the best player, regardless of position.

Anyway, I, like most, was on the Rose bandwagon all the way.

Thank jeebus for that 1.7% shot.

As long as Paxson doesn't make another epic mistake, Derrick Rose will bring a major free agent (not Ben Wallace, but a LEGIT major free agent superstar) to Chicago.

Chris Bosh plz

Bosh, Amare or Boozer in that order are the guys I would love to see paired with Rose.

Well, assuming Lebron is unrealistic

Of course.

This team isn't that good by any means but I think they'll be a low seeded playoff team. The fact that they are 2-3 so far on the circus trip makes me very optimistic.

in fact, i think that was the argument that most people, myself included, were trying to make when advocating for beasley. i think people wanted rose because he was a point guard and beasley was a power forward.

i didn't think we could go wrong either way, but i wanted beasley because i thought he was the better player. i don't think there's been enough time to judge who the better player is, btw.

i'm happy with rose, though.

2 wins on the circus trip -- even against depleted/subpar teams -- certainly makes me feel better than NO wins on the circus trip.

But then there were handsome, genius people like me who said bollocks to your need-filling philosophy. We knew then as we know now, one of those guys is transcendent while one is merely very good.

Forza Rose.

The only reason I wasn't 100% decided on Rose is because I felt Beasley was more NBA ready and was a postup player like we've been clamoring for, for years. But I knew Rose had the higher upside and was a PG so I wanted him.

High praise from Bill Simmons about DRose:

1. Has Derrick Rose exceeded every conceivable expectation?

Yes, yes and yes. Yes. Yes. Absolutely yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Unequivocally, 100 percent, yes. As God as my witness, yes. May I get struck down by lightning if I'm lying, yes. Yes. Yes. Yes yes yes. Allow me these three points:

A. His worst-case scenario ceiling? Micheal Ray Richardson without the coke problem. (And if you don't think that's a big deal, remember that a clean Sugar knocked the Fo-Fo-Fo Sixers out of the '84 playoffs by himself.) As for the best-case scenario ... I can't jinx it so I won't go there. Just know that I wouldn't change a single thing about his game other than giving him a reliable jump shot (which should come soon), which doubles as the craziest thing about Rose right now: He's beating guys off the dribble WHO ARE ALREADY PLAYING OFF HIM BY FIVE FEET!!!!!! Do you realize how absurd that is?

B. I always judge players by one question: Would I like playing with him? And I'd love to play with Rose ... too bad I was washed up 10 years ago. But to watch Rose's unselfishness slowly rub off on such a messed-up, immature, overpaid, poorly coached, terribly put-together Bulls team has been one of the most random shockers of this season, right up there with Vince Carter looking like Vintage VC again; Jason Thompson being a great pick; Jason Kidd morphing into a Nash-like defensive liability; Marc Gasol being semi-competent; the poor Hawks fans getting suckered in by one of Flip Murray's infamous November hot streaks; the fact that Alexis Ajinca could ever get drafted in the top 20 of an NBA draft; and Tim Thomas being involved in a trade that was delayed because someone else had a heart problem.

Because of Rose (and to a lesser extent, Vinny Del Negro's ongoing Shooter/"Hoosiers" routine which continues to deliver the goods comedically), the '09 Bulls became one of my go-to DirecTV teams even though I can't stand watching 80 percent of the guys on the team. Remember the days when we were worried that we wouldn't have an adequate starting point guard for the USA Olympic Team? Now we have Paul, Williams AND Rose? Holy schnikes.

C. I can't think of another sports example to match this one: Bulls GM John Paxson completely butchering an unbutcherable (I just made up that word) situation in Chicago, heading towards the chopping block, then getting bailed out at the last minute by 1.5-percent odds in the 2008 lottery. This was nothing less than a GM Death Row pardon. Incredibly, they still have one of the five worst roster situations in the league -- Ben Gordon will leave treadmarks fleeing after the season, Andres Nocioni, Luol Deng and Larry Hughes have unwieldy/untradeable contracts, and two high lottery picks (Ty Thomas and Joakim Noah) look like ninth men at best. But none of it matters because of Rose. If I were Paxson, I would hug him every time I saw him. Right now, Derrick Rose is like a $500,000 Maybach parked in the driveway of a $200,000 house in the middle of nowhere. Let's hope we still aren't saying that in three years.

This is the truest thing written about the Bulls all year.

Saw Lebron on Sports Center yesterday, they're all torqued up about him being a Knick but, something he said was interesting - his FA destination will largely depend upon who he'll play with. Currently, the Knicks and Cavaliers have no one close to a Derrick Rose nor will they have in the near future. I think Lebron is smart enough to know that playing alongside Derrick Rose will get him closer to an NBA Championship than whomever his Knick or Cavalier teammates will end up being.

Derrick Rose+Chicago endorsement=better situation then Lebron James solo act in NY, anyday of the week. Right now the only way the Knicks land James is if the Knicks land another great player before going after James. Derrick Rose coould potentially be the reason that James chose to go to Chicago over New York despite New York desparate and pathetic slurping of the guy.

With that said I don't expect Paxson to even consider James, for whatever reason.

The Knicks could seek to add someone that would attract LeBron to New York. Of course, that would cost more money.

1. Knicks have enough money freed up in 2010 to sign LeBron and anyone else they want (Bosh, Amare, Wade). They'll probably sign LeBron and then sign whoever else he tells them to sign.

2. Does LeBron want to play in Chicago, under the shadow of Michael Jordan? It may not be a big deal, but he couldn't wear 23 in Chicago. No matter what he does in Chi, he'd be known as the 2nd best Bulls player of all-time, and Scottie Pippen may be argued ahead of him w/ 6 rings.

There's really no reason for LeBron to play his home games anywhere in 2010 other than MSG or Brooklyn.

what's with you and "slurping"?

I think LeBron would have considered Chicago if NY wasn't an option. It's a large city with a big fan base and basketball history. That said, he's going to NY. They are pretty much going to offer him a crapload of money and promise him any other FA available. He essentially gets to choose his sidekick.

Exactly.

Lebron is a pipe dream. Let's "settle" for Bosh/Amare or hometown kid Wade.

a rose-wade combo should be good enough to finish behind lebron's knicks for 3 or 4 years

I'd love for Wade to come home to Chicago. However, if LeBron has a choice, I think DWade would be his preferred teammate.

I'm still highly skeptical that this ever happens.

It's not my term. So one else on another board used it and it's an appropiate term considering the circumstance.

I know LBJ is a pipedream but watching LBJ not win in NY for the next decade (become the next Patrick Ewing) would be great to see.

Well, the LeBrons are probably going to take care of business no matter where LeBron is in his prime.

I don't want Wade. When healthy I truly believe he is right there with Kobe as number two, but he needs the ball too much to be effective. Same with Rose. Given age, ability, money, etc; I'd rather Rose be that guy with the ball in his hands on every play.

Ideally you'd clear as much space as possible then sign Amare, Butler and try to convince Chandler to come back, but that'd never happen.

I'd prefer Bosh over Amare, why do you prefer Amare?
