So how many talking heads will point to Manny Ramirez as the reason the Dodgers swept the series, despite the fact that his contributions were all solo home runs after the games were out of reach?

HEY GUYS,

let's reroute this thread and start doing fake optimism. like opposite day or something.

man, i love the cubs so much. they have always been so good to me, and i just know they are going to win this game and the world series. they make me happy and warm in my heart. i want to buy puppies.

oh what a great game.

world series, here we come.

I agree they are a great team. That's the point.

It's normal for a great team to lose five games in a row once in awhile. Some one-run losses, the occasional flukey bad performance.

It's not normal for them to lose them by a combined score of 49-14. That is so statistically improbable that the possibility of an effect should not be dismissed out of hand.

So how do you guys think our offseason will go.

Here are areas we can stand to improve:

1B

SS

CF

RF

Bullpen (7th inning guy)

I'd love to get a complete dominant hitter. Doesn't matter the position.

the bad thing is, center field is really the only position Hendry will try to upgrade. you know they're going to giving the stupid asian another chance since they signed him to a ridiculous contract.

Honestly, at the time, everyone loved it. Don't forget that.

Was last week's Simpsons and Family Guy eps. good? I missed them due to the Bears game, but I'm going to watch those on FOX.com and come back and see how the game is then.

I get yelled at every time I post this, but it needs to be said, now more than ever.

The worst organization in professional sports.

Not even close

You're delusional.

No offense to you personally.

But he's not wrong. There are WORSE run franchises in pro sports....like the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, New York Rangers, New York Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, etc, etc. So the Cubs are clearly not as bad (

tho there not overly great, either) as you claim it to be, Jeff.

WAIT! You put the NY Rangers in there and then DO NOT mention the New York KNICKS?!?!?!? I will take the Cubs over the Knicks in a heartbeat!

What a bunch of gutless losers. Seriously.

If they could do it, they should just let the Smokies play Game 3 instead of the Cubs. At least they'd TRY to win.

Evan Longoria will be a free agent sometime betwen 2014-2016. Weve waited this long. 6 year 17.5 million contract indeed. I hope he has the good sense to fire his agent.

there's nothing wrong with the organization. let's stop pretending like the cubs have a bad organization and that's why they fail.

So, what kind of organization does this for 100 years?

the organization put together a team that won 97 games. this, well, this is not the organization's fault. they've made the playoffs 4 times in the last 10 years, at some point, you have to start wondering.

what has to happen to convince people?

So what, a curse?

what else?

do the cubs have to be up by 10 runs in the 4th 5th 6th 7th games of the nlcs only to lose each time to convince you that they're never getting to the world series?

Frankly? God Himself would have to descend from the heavens holding a sign that says "I DO NOT LIKE THE CUBS AND GENERALLY PREFER IF THEY LOSE". And even that might not do it.

Alright. I can feel you on that one. But I think there are also more tangible reasons as well, and I think the organization is to blame, curse or no curse. I feel better blaming them than a goat.
