Okay, I'm sure you guys are going to take this with a grain of salt (as I would), but I just got it from a GREAT source that Jake Peavy will not be traded to the Braves. A deal to the Cubs is extremely close and has been for a little while now. My source is very surprised that it isn't done by now. If by some chance the deal to the Cubs falls through, he will probably end up staying a Padre (very unlikely) or becoming a Yankee (even more unlikely). The only other team that has a chance at all is the Dodgers and they would have to overwhelm the Padres with their offer.

I will not identify my source yet and it isn't a permanent one by any means, I just completely lucked into this (unbelievably reliable) information.

I love this time of year

I hate my thought process when it comes to the Cubs. I know I shouldn't ever believe anybody on an internet message board when they say they have a "source" (no offense DonnieD, but when it involves something good possibly happening for the Cubs I always talk myself into believing it could be legit.

Anybody know anything aobut DonnieD?

I don't know who Georgia Palmas is but I actually do have some pics to corroborate.

I've been a member for about five years, and I haven't told any lies yet. I admittedly don't post a whole lot, I mostly read. It seems like anytime I have anything to say concerning a subject, it has already been said. Like I said I just lucked into some information today and thought I would share.

Lame Donnie D unless your gonna be on your sources christmas card list this season with some free tickets spill

Whether it's BS or not, let's not screw up this info the same way OH did with the Brian Roberts trade.

"It's done guys! My source just said so!"

"My source saw that I leaked the info, they took it back!"

If it's real, it's real. If not... well, it's the offseason. My favorite time of year. My post count has cone up tenfold since the season ended. Don't you all feel lucky?

My source will still be a potential source for the next 3 days so I can't go and ruin it now. If nothing has happened by Friday morning I will give up more information.

I just googled Giorgia Palmas and wow, I was missing out.

Is this source with the Cubs? Peavys people? Or the Padres?

I really don't want to elaborate any more, lets just say this person is close to the negotiations.

I could swear this is the Brian Roberts trade thread...

It could end up that way, but I doubt any of the Sesame Street characters had information this solid.

I will believe just because I want to so badly, I thought I would have until at least mid December/January to get back into Cubs baseball, but they just always find a way to suck you in.

It's good to know Peavy has replace Brian Roberts as this yrs "all talk, no action" move of the offseason.

Any dibs as to who will be next yr's "will they or won't they" for the Cubs?

Ok thats fair, I'll take it FWIW, but thanks for the info. I sure hope this source is correct.

Don't you think it's a bit early to be complaining about a lack of action? It's November 10th and we're talking about a top 5 pitcher. How long have the rumors even been around so far? 2 weeks? I think that's a bit different than a trade for a second baseman that went deep into spring training.

Just curious then, have you heard if it is a 3 or 4 team deal as has been rumored? Is Greene included? Any additional perameters etc?

No, I didn't ask about those questions specifically though. It sounded to me like it was Cubs/Padres with only Peavy coming to the Cubs, but as I said I didn't ask too many questions, I didn't even get into names going from the Cubs to the Padres.

Okay..I'll bite. Did he say when he expected a deal to actually get done? Tomorrow? This week?

I feel stupid

Peavy situation is tricky in this way: If you get impatience you can possible burn your bridge--at least temporary and lose your chance at getting a top 5 pitcher, but if you are patience and become the Padres female dogs and wait, and wait, you could miss out on improving the team in other ways. I want Peavy on the Cubs so bad that the longer it doesn't happen the more the frustration starts to build. I just want it over....so that I can either be bummed about not getting Peavy, or super happy for getting him on the Cubs....

Peavy to the Cubs talk has really only been hot for a week or so, it still has a few months to get on the Brian Roberts level. The weird thing about the Brian Roberts stuff. I didn't even really want him all that bad. It just got to the point were It felt like he was a Cub already, after months of rumors saying that it should happen any day. So I just wanted the deal done, and him to be offically on the team already, or the trade talks done. Peavy on the other hand is a pitcher who I really want. So I don't want this to end unless he ends up on the Cubs.
