I'd be cool if Mijares hit AJP in the face with a fastball.

Just kidding, it'd be way cooler if he had some sort of terminal illness for like the next 25 years where he was under great suffering.

More accurately, why is this game even being played if the Twins won the season series. The NFL and NBA and NHL don't do it this way.

Just thinking of recent games

 

Rockies won at home last year

Reds lost at home in 99

Cubs won at home in 98

Mariners won at home in 95

Red Sox lost at home in 78

 

What other ones am I missing?

More accurately, why is this game even being played if the Twins won the season series. The NFL and NBA and NHL don't do it this way.

 

I don't mind that they play a game. I would think it would be stupid for a team to play 162 games, tie for one of 4 playoff spots and then have to go home because you might have lost a couple of games against a team in May when your team isn't nearly the same team as it was back then.

It'll be interesting to see if they go with Jenks as Minn. is a good FB hitting team and Jenks has been for some rteason going with his FB more and more and less with the great curve.

That's a good point. The Twins were getting good licks at his FB last week. I'm sure they will be going to Jenks though, its "baseball wisdom".

Knowing Guillen, he'll go with Danks and the 1st sign of trouble will pull him. The thing with that is that I as well as most failed Jenny Craig clients could steal a base off of Jenks and Pierzynski.

I think Spring Training games should have more meaning. How about they base HFA for a 1 game playoff on who has the better spring training record?

Home teams are 3-4 per Dave Campbell on ESPN radio.

 

EDIT: You're missing Houston winning at Los Angeles in 1980, IIRC.
