Ok, wondering what everyone else thinks.

I love Gracie, but as a "color" man, I think he is a gigantic toolbox and is more annoying than Joe Carter in the booth...

He didn't annoy me that much (maybe it was the beer I was drinking) but it was kind of annoying that he said the word momentum about 35 times. Plus he's pretty good at stating the obvious.

I still can't forgive him for the classless comments he made after he (and the DBacks) won the World Series. So it's possible that I was listening and only picking up the comments he made that were stupid or bad. But having said that, he's terrible.

(after a pitch is thrown in the dirt) "He's gonna have to get that pitch over the plate."

(In the 5th inning with a 4 run lead) "This game is far from over."

I can go on, but like I said earlier, I was probably listening and being overly critical.

I must have missed these comments. What did he say?

In an interview on the field after winning:

"I'm not good enough to play for the Chicago Cubs but I'm sure good enough to play for the World Champs"

This after the Cubs made him a contract offer and he chose to play for the DBacks.

Classless comments? I don't remember the situation clearly, but I thought Grace wanted to resign with the Cubs, but the Cubs didn't want to sign him. His comments after the World Series were something like: "I wasn't good enough to play 1B for the Chicago Cubs, but I'm good enough to play for the world champions"

I agree the timing wasn't right to take a shot at the Cubs org (he was literally still on the field celebrating the World Series), but I don't think they were classless.

Joe Carter is actually much better, not saying much though

but I do love the guy and what he did with the Cubs

The Cubs didn't renew his contract and didn't offer him arbitration. They let him go.

Keeping Mark Grace wouldn't have brought us a championship and it didn't bring the Diamondbacks a championship, get over yourselves.

Hate the guy for what he does in the booth, not for what he did on the field

Maybe my memory is failing me in my old age, but I thought I remembered Grace and Shawon Dunston celebrating the Diamondbacks championship on the field and telling the interviewer that they hoped Cub fans could share in their championship celebration or something to that effect.

Like I said, my memory could be failing me. For some reason I thought he was on that team. Maybe it was some other former Cub on the Arizona roster. I don't know, maybe Alzheimer's is setting in.

I believe at that time, Luis Gonzalez was the only other former Cub on the team. a couple have joined since (Miller and Womack)

:-))

Joe is a fine human being, but he makes Grace sound like he belongs in the broadcaster's HOF.

I spend a lot of time in AZ and if you think he's bad on FOX, you should hear him with Darrin Sutton. Those 2 are the worst booth tandem, this side of DJ and Hawk. You talk about tools. Grace has this thing where he says "CAR", about 5 times a game and the sad thing is, that it's spread out there and much bigger tools, bring these signs with the word CAR on them and hold them up during the game.

What is "CAR"?

The most annoying thing is how they call each other by their whole names. "That was a great play, Mark Grace"

"You got that right, Darrin Sutton"
