Board crashed? Anyone else shocked to see Orton make two very successful audibles in the 4th quarter? I can't believe we won that. This team might just barely make the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round.

Yeah, this Bears team looks awfully similar to the 2001 Bears.

We would have been more like the 2001 Bears had we finished off those 2 losses and been 4-0

Tait and St Clair were bad last night. Madden did a great job pointing out Forte helping St Clair out, and St Clair just blowing it anyway, as the lineman just rolled to the other side of JSC. Just awful. Tait looked helpless all night long. At least Garza made a few holes for the RB's to run behind. Orton had no time to throw. Orton made some mistakes, but I still think he did a nice job last night.

Hester needs to stop running backwards. Payne seems to have a knack for INT's.

I don't miss Rex.

I was really, really wrong about this game. Still though, I think it's worth noting (not to rain on everyone's parade, but...) that the offense basically shut down again in the 2nd half, and the defense indeed started giving up yards in the 4th quarter just as they had in weeks 2 and 3.

Great stop at the end, but it was more of the same from this team. They are a terror in the 4th quarter, and if they don't get that under control it's going to be very painful to watch the rest of the season.

I can't think of a reason why, with the Bears up 7 points and our offense inside the 20, and the Eagles without Westbrook, that we shouldn't have at least had a 10 point lead in the 4th and held on to win much more convincingly in front of the home crowd. Maybe I'm too greedy.

BTW, that play call to run a reverse on 3rd and 4 (technically 3rd and 4) was dumbfounding.

That was a creative call. At that point, your best friend is the clock, so you call a play that takes as long as possible to run and still leaves the clock running after all is said and done. That play call ate another 5-10 seconds off the clock, so that by the time the Eagles got the ball back, they had maybe 2 plays to work with.

The Bears somehow won this week despite getting outplayed overall and giving up 4 turnovers. I like to think of it as somewhat evening out the previous two weeks where the Bears outplayed both teams and lost anyway.

Which actually turned out to be one play since the Eagles didn't get out of bounds and didn't have enough time left to spike the ball to stop the clock.

I have no problem with that play. It was basically a concession that they considered taking time off the clock to be more important than getting a first down.

It's kind of funny, because as much as Orton was under pressure yesterday, I'm pretty sure Rex would have been killed.

One thing I believe Kyle is doing better than Rex ever did is recognizing the defense at the line of scrimmage and calling his own protections.

It worked for 2 quarters yesterday -- then something happened and he wasn't getting the same protection afterwards. It was probably some really good halftime adjustments by the Eagles. But overall I still think Kyle is doing a much better job of this -- and he has to with this line.

I saw that Orton's passer rating in the first half was 106.6 and in the second half 0.0

halftime was the worst thing that could have happened to him

Desmond Clark was the worst thing to happen to him last night.

Well, aside from the offensive line.

I'll put it in context though. That D line destroyed Big Ben last week too. We won't be facing many teams that can dial up that kind of pressure.

Clark didn't have a banner day, true.

Maddon was right last night as far as Orton holding onto the ball for too long during some of those sacks/fumbles. That doesn't excuse the O-Line not giving any time on most occasions though.

Sure, on a couple plays but frankly I'd rather him do that when under extreme pressure than try to force the ball into all kinds of coverage. On the last one you could clearly see on the replay there was nobody open. He needs to cover up the ball better than that, but taking a sack or two rather than risking INTs is something I'm not going to jump on Kyle for, especially when he really didn't have much time all night, and he was getting rid of the ball alright many other times.

I thought Orton was finally showing he was a NFL quality QB in the first half and then the 2nd half was pretty much a disaster. He looked REALLY good in the first half, no idea what happened to him in the 2nd half. I think teams make very good adjustments against us and we see in the 2nd half.

Zac Zaidman(sp?) the Bears sideline reporter for 680 and contibutor to WSCR was on this morning and had this to say. When he asked Kyle Orton what Philly did different in the 2nd half to slow him down, his response was " I honestly dont know, I just dont know". Thats not a good thing that our starting QB has no idea what adjustments were made against him.

Well, but that's why he's still an inexperienced QB, and why he looked bad. The fact is, the Eagles are one of the best, if not the best, pressure defenses in the league. They're going to come at you from a number of different angles, switch things up, confuse you. Kyle obviously got pretty confused in the 2nd half -- along with the rest of the blocking.

Big Ben was pretty confused the week before too.

Is anyone else happy about the win, but also restrained knowing that we could be 4-0 or at least 3-1?

The difference between 2-2 and 3-1 could end up being the playoffs, or it could end up being a home game or it could end up being a bye. Not that I expect the Bears to goto the Super Bowl or anything, even in my wildest dreams, but still.

RIght I understand him being confused, but dont you think the coaches or somebody would have pointed out to him during that 2nd half what they were doing differently? Just seemed like a really odd statement to make.

Right now Im happy we won, but I still dont expect anything out of this season. So far they have won the 2 games I thought they'd lose and lost the 2 I thought theyd win. I have a feeling this team will just be in really close games all year, and will win some and lose some. Basically end up right around .500

i admit i'm kind of a "glass half empty" fan, but i have definitely been bothered by this. they could easily be 4-0 or 3-1. having said that, they have a very favorable schedule for the next 4-5 weeks and hopefully can take advantage of it.

orton is still struggling a lot at times, but i've been fairly pleased with his play as a whole. i'm hoping that he'll get better as the season progresses.

True, and its not like the Packers are 4-0.

I guess looking at the schedule to start the season, if someone told you the Bears could be tied for first after those 4 games, you'd have taken it.

I look it as the Bears have already played their toughest 3 NFC games of the season, arguably, and went 1-2, disappointingly. They did outplay their opponents in two of the games, though, so considering them a playoff contender isn't much of a stretch at this point.
