You can slot Penn State over Texas, but Texas has looked good, admittedly against crappy competition. Colt McCoy really should be in the Heisman discussion with Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. He's as good as or better than both across the board.

My Top Ten would go something like this:

1. Alabama

2. Oklahoma

3. Louisiana State

4. Penn State

5. Texas

6. Southern Cal

7. Missouri

8. Georgia

9. Brigham Young

10. Texas Tech

With 11-15 looking like:

11. South Florida

12. Auburn

13. Florida

14. Utah

15. Boise State

So wait are you a Florida fan or a Texas fan?

Did you watch the LSU vs Auburn game? I'm pretty sure the word dismantled can't be used to describe LSU's action on Auburn. It was a hell of a game where the two teams were pretty even. At the end of the day Auburn walked out with an L, but they certainly were not dismantled like Georgia was. Alabama's win was much, much more impressive than LSU's.

Missouri hasn't played anybody. And no, Illinois doesn't count as somebody. Alabama has one quality win and one uber win. Missouri gave up 40 points to a team that scored like 20 against Louisiana-Lafayette. Missouri may be better, but at this point you can't make that argument based on the fact Missouri's played chopped liver and Alabama has made chopped liver out of two top ten teams on the road.

Calling Clemson a "Top 10 team" and "a quality win" while Illinois "isn't anybody" is hilarious. Playing the rationalization game doesn't get you anywhere. Doing that, Clemson is the team who just lost to Maryland("lost to Middle Tennessee State" Maryland). They gave up 30 points to a Georgia team that scored one touchdown against awful South Carolina.

That said, Bama has a stronger resume than Mizzou to this point. Being such the margin of victory advocate that you are, I'm surprised you're not more of a Mizzou fan.

i still can't get over the fact that there were no penalties called on psu last night. does that seem weird to anyone, and be honest.

for the record, psu is definitely the better team, but no penalties? come on.

you must have quit watching.

Calling calling the win over Clemson a win against a top 10 team is legitimately true. Calling a win against Clemson a quality win is entirely fine. Don't diss on Maryland who beat by everyone's favorite alignment of stars leads you to: Maryland over Cal over Michigan State over Notre Dame over Michigan over top 10 Wisconsin. I'm not saying Maryland is very good, but they do have more quality wins than Missouri and of course more than Illinois (Go Louisiana Lafayette!)

You're right, I am a supporter of margin of victory. However, it's less important against weak teams, BUT if Missouri was as good as Alabama we would have expected them to beat Illinois by 19, SE Missouri St by 57 and Buffalo by 28. They were a TD below all of those. Granted they could have done that against SE Missouri St if they wanted. It just goes to show that we expected them to be winning like this, and in the only game against a decent opponent (Illinois) they were about a little over a TD worse than expected, which is important considering thats the best information we can go on.

Clemson while certainly overrated at the beginning is better than the Illini and not to mention they went on the road and beat Georgia. Missouri hasn't left the state yet. No worries, I'll be at the UT game when Missouri is taken down though.

he's a texas fan now, too, so of course he won't like moissouri

Im pretty sure giving up 30 points to UGA isn't really an issue. Giving up 42 to Illinois and calling yourself a national championship contender is. The Illini haven't gotten 25 or more against another FBS opponent. Not that it means anything, but statistically, the team allowing the least amount of yards per game in FBS is South Carolina. They're 11th in scoring defense as well. They don't have a very good offense, but they have a very good defense.

No, no it's not. Clemson is currently unranked in both polls and isn't even receiving votes in the AP poll. They're not a top-10 team. I don't care what they were ranked when Alabama beat them because right now, they're 3-2 and unranked. It's looking like a decent win right now. Maybe the win will get better and maybe it will get worse, but right now it's looking like an ok win.

LOL at Notre Dame not even receiving a vote in the AP poll after all the cracks I heard yesterday from friends about them being undeservedly ranked this week. The voters are smarter than you think they are. What I do not like is that we are going to beat Stanford, which means absolutely nothing, next week and will receive votes.

And Ball State will be ranked when they beat Toledo next week. I don't see how anyone besides the Cards can stop them from scoring 40 points the rest of the year, Nate Davis is a machine.

statistically speaking, the ranking of a team when you play them means more than their ranking later on. i know it's backwards, but facts are facts. damn them. then again also when you look at a media guide saying 'wins over top 10 team' this one will count there too.

It says a lot that they can lose a player as good as Love and not miss a beat.

And if they are ranked, I think it will be the first time in history that they're ranked in football (my freshman year, 1978, they wound up one of the top totals in the "also receiving votes" category, and I believe they would have been ranked if the rankings were top 25 back then instead of top 20). They have been ranked a couple of years in basketball (including at the end of the season in 1989, when it was still just the top 20).

Maybe late in the season, but certainly not early. Unless Clemson wins out, they're not going to be a top 10 team and Alabama should not get credit for it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this has to be the earliest point in the season where a non BCS team is ranked in the top 8

and what is with bama being behind overrated mizzou and lsu? they dismantled preseason number 1 georgia and havent even trailed for one second all season long (!).

LSU dismantled preseason number 10 Auburn, and Mizzou has trailed for about 10 seconds this season.

I was surprised to see BYU that high too.

When did LSU dismantle Auburn? I must have missed that game. Currently, Alabama should be ranked ahead of LSU, imo.

My bad to the Wisconsin fan that said they were nervous about Michigan haha...I really did not see that coming...especially with that 19-0 lead....sorry

I know this program pretty well. As upset as I was at the time of not scoring TDs, I was feeling fine at 19-0.

Talk about crap'n the bed.

College football:NFL Badgers:Bears

It makes it easier for me to watch the 2 leagues because I have the same expectation of doom and gloom that no matter how good we could be we have just as good of a chance to blow it.

I asked this in the middle of this thread somewhere and didnt see if any Badger fans answered. How is that Clay kid not getting more carries? Hill is just getting him what his line is hammering out. That Clay kid ran the ball twice that I seen and look incredible. I think a little more Clay and the Badgers score a couple of more TDs instead of FGs.
