I considered this a good test for the PSU defense, as OSU is going to run a very similar offense. After those first couple of scoring drives, the PSU linebackers adjusted well to all the option plays out of the shotgun. Should be interesting to see how Pryor runs that offense compared to Juice.

and do we see three Big XII teams in the Top 5 this week? I can see:

1. OU

2. Mizzou

3. Bama

4. LSU

5. Texas

I doubt it will be that order.

what would be yours? I can easily see Bama jumping some teams with their win on the road (compared to LSU's "meh" win against Miss St. at home). The question is whether they'll move MIzzou up on a bye week.

My guess is yes. I will go

OU

Bama

Mizzou

LSU

Texas

I don't see ND making the top 25 this week, they didn't even receive any votes last week. You still have an unbeaten Nebraska and Oklahoma State on the verge of cracking it no chance they have of ND jumping them. Edit, just saw Nebraska lost to Virgina Tech. Stupid Fox Sports SW said they won.

The next 5 weeks Texas has

Colorado

OU

Mizzou

Texas Tech

Oklahoma State

I am not real confident of running the table. The OU game is going to be great, and I will probably take the over in that game.

After this week of football I think the MNC is going to be Alabama vs Penn State (I've thought Penn State was going to run the table for a couple of weeks now but they continue to beat good teams)

Why? OSU doesnt do anything but get some big plays on offense with Wells and Pryor. They dont march up and down the field on people at will. Really, what ive seen so far i think PSU is much the better team offensively. Just dont do a Michigan and fumble the ball all over the place.

we just always lose there, and usually we get stomped. if ohio state was way down this year, i could see it, but they still have a boatload of talent and are still very good, despite the poor showing against usc.

I would have more confidence playing them, say, next week than in 4 weeks. The offense will be much more tailored to Pryor by then.

how far do Georgia and Florida fall? I assume Florida drops into the 11-15 range for losing to an unranked team at home, while Georgia might cling to the top 10 with their late comeback effort

My top 10 is something like:

1. Oklahoma

2. Bama

3. LSU

4. Mizzou

5. Texas

6. USC

7. Penn State

8. Florida

9. Georgia

10 South Florida

Florida lost by 1 to a pretty good team. Georgia lost to a very good team, but it was at home and a blowout (in spite of the final score). I'd definitely put UGA behind Florida at this point.

The problem comes in that nobody beneath has really done anything to deserve moving up so far. BYU has dominated terrible competition, which is fine, but they also almost lost to a bad Washington team. Texas Tech hasn't played anybody. I value a good loss more than an empty win this early in the season while things are still shaking out. That said, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see both Georgia and Florida out of the top 10, and to see BYU and Texas Tech in. I honestly don't want to put Texas that high, either, but I couldn't figure out where else to put them.

same here, which is why i think that people sticking a fork in illinois (mostly illinois fans) are doing so prematurely. they lost a neutral site game against a team that everyone agrees is top 5 in the nation, and a nighttime road game to a team that will be top 10. they hung in both games and were competitive - not really close to winning, but certainly didn't get embarrassed either. illinois will beat minnesota, indiana, iowa and western michigan. the big thing is, what do they do with their other four games (@michigan, vs ohio st, @wisconsin, @nw'ern). if they go 2-2 or 3-1 in those games, they should be headed to a nice bowl, probably new year's day. if they do worse than that, then they're headed to el paso or something.

More I think about it, the more I think Penn State should be #5. I can't think of anybody who deserves it more.

let's see PSU beat at least one more good team before we get too excited. I'm as big a PSU homer as anyone on this board, but Illinois is the only team to give them a tough fight so far (and they aren't the toughest game on the schedule). Talk to me in a few weeks

So who gets it? USC and their one loss? Texas and their toughest game being UTEP? One loss Florida or Georgia? One loss Ohio State? BYU and their signature victory over UCLA? South Florida? Texas Tech and their signature win against Nevada?

Honestly, you can twist the top 4 around just about any way and have a legit argument...the clustercoitus begins at #5.

My top five would be

1. OU

2. Alabama

3. LSU

4.Mizzou

5. Texas

Not bad, vance, but after watching the GA/Bama game there are still some major holes on Alabama, like their special teams. So it wouldn't surprise me if the new Top 5:

1: OU

2: Missouri

3: Bama

4: LSU

5: PSU

It hard's for me to put Bama at #2, because of the choke job they had last yr. So I'm hoping they don't free fall like they did last yr. Right now, I do see Missouri and OU being better teams then Alabama, but it wouldn't surprise if that gap doesn't significantly close before the end of the yr.

don't be a pity fan.

I thought you weren't going to post in this thread anymore. You literally told us today that never again would you discuss college football with us, yet here you are.

I didn't see mention of this score in this thread: Ball State 41, Kent State 20.

USC: Not undefeated.

Florida: Not undefeated.

OSU: Not undefeated.

Georgia: Not undefeated.

BSU: Undefeated.

First: That was hours ago, and I calm down quite a bit since then. I am more rationale and thinking clearly. I got my tantrum out of my system. (And yes I already know I am a spaz especially when it comes to college football)

Second: I am not being a pity fan, there were times where I was flat out pissed at Bama. I know GA was the #3 team in the Nation, but you have a chance to go for "the kill" you don't allow them to score 17 unanswered points. Not to mention, despite playing well in the first half, Bama's d played awfully soft in the 2nd half, not to mention they seems to have lost focus for about 1 quarter. The D better be lucky the O put up 31 points on GA, otherwise Alabama D would have been shreeded to pieces. Right now, IDK if Bama is a the #2 team in America. Top 5, yes, top 2..............stretching it slightly. And with a Kentucky team that is undefeated and an Ole Miss that is coming off an upset of Florida, Alabama has no time to rest. Come back to me after the Ole Miss game and I would let you know if Alabama is the 2nd best team in America.

Otherwise, even tho they are not significantly better then Bama, I do think Mizz is still better then Bama, hence the reason why I put them #2. Which means, it wouldn't surprise me if Mizz/Bama meet in a major bowl game this yr. And what about the performances of two of the conutry's best WR's, AJ Green and Julio Jones. These two (along with Crabtree, Deandre Brown of Ole Miss, and perhaps Boldin of Ill) are going to fit for the title of "best WR in America."

And third: I would not mind Matt Stafford as the next Bears QB.

I'd put Penn State #5 too. I'm not sure who else is more deserving. I think Penn State is the best team in the Big Ten, but have doubts that actually makes them a top-5 team. Still, they deserve to be ranked ahead of Texas.

You can slot Penn State over Texas, but Texas has looked good, admittedly against crappy competition. Colt McCoy really should be in the Heisman discussion with Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. He's as good as or better than both across the board.

My Top Ten would go something like this:

1. Alabama

2. Oklahoma

3. Louisiana State

4. Penn State

5. Texas

6. Southern Cal

7. Missouri

8. Georgia

9. Brigham Young

10. Texas Tech

With 11-15 looking like:

11. South Florida

12. Auburn

13. Florida

14. Utah

15. Boise State

Correct me if I am wrong, but this has to be the earliest point in the season where a non BCS team is ranked in the top 8

and what is with bama being behind overrated mizzou and lsu? they dismantled preseason number 1 georgia and havent even trailed for one second all season long (!).

LSU dismantled preseason number 10 Auburn, and Mizzou has trailed for about 10 seconds this season.

I was surprised to see BYU that high too.
