First it was "Hawk and Wimpy." Then "Hawk and D.J."

Beginning in 2009, it will be "Hawk and Stoney."

The White Sox announced Saturday that Stone has signed a six-year deal (with a club option for 2015) to become the team's television analyst. He will slide to the TV booth after one year as the Sox's radio analyst.

Stone will replace Darrin Jackson, who has been offered the vacated analyst's role in the Sox's radio booth.

Good move. I hope Stone doesn't complain about the umpiring like Hawk does. When he does that, he is unwatchable. But couldn't they have waited until the season is over for that?

isn't that kind of a slap in the face to d.j.? not that he doesn't suck or anything.

maybe DJ wanted to get the hell away from Hawk. wouldn't you?

So when the Sox hit a home run, will Stone say "Yes" like DJ did simultaneously with Hawk after the "You can put it on the board" trash?

Even better, will Stoney switch roles and do play-by-play of the middle innings like DJ does (or tries to)?

Bad move. That broadcast team is horrible. The Score's incessant pimping of their crappy Sox broadcast is nauseating. It sucks, and they don't get it.

I like this duo. While Stone has a less modern view of the game compared to someone like Kasper, he does know how the game works and does bring insight to the game beyond calling sliders low and away with 2 strikes.

As far as Hawk, I'm the opposite of most as far as liking him and don't mind him complaining about calls (although he is excessive) as I enjoy that he's not vanilla like every other broadcaster (including what the Cubs have).

I would much rather listen to them than either TV/radio for the Cubs.

Progression towards the center? :)

I've always liked Hawk, the positives outweigh the negatives. I could deal with the whining and the over the top homerism if I enjoy the overall broadcast.

As far as Stone, I still dislike for '04 with him and Chip, but I do enjoy his analysis even with the know-it-all attitude.

HUGE upgrade for the Sox booth. DJ was more useless than

think about the radio though. theres more excitement in Ron Santo's pinkie than that booth.

I suppose I mis-spoke earlier because DJ has apparently only been "offered" the radio job, but yeah that booth would be unimaginably bad if it happens.

Most obnoxious announcing duo of all time?

Morgan/Miller

Buck/McCarver

The Reds duo

Can all make legitimate claim at the "most obnoxious" title.
