I think Milwaukee will take care of the Reds in sweeping fashion. I really expect us to lose two of three in STL, which will reduce the division lead to 2 games. Then we get to go to Houston. This division lead could and should get very dicey by the end of the week.

The Cubs are melting down. That's a pathetic loss today. I know Cedeno is getting trashed but Wood was the guy who loaded the bases. I'm not saying Cedeno shouldn't have made the play, but that ball took a high hop. I'm far more disgusted in Wood losing Valentin after having him 0-2.

Bad offense, bad defense and another loss.

Kerry hadn't pitched in nearly a week. He wasn't sharp today at all. At least Harden and Dempster will be pitching in St. Louis most likely.

I heard on 1000 this morning that Lou was iffy about when Harden would pitch.

Yes, we'll get his normal 5 or 6 inning stint. Seriously, we need guys to step up and it's not happening.

Color me confused how it can be said the Cubs are melting down, and you expect Milw to sweep Cincy? Milw just split a 4 game series to the worst team in baseball, and has been playing just as badly as the CUbs. So please explain how the Cubs are melting down, but Milw isnt?

Ummm, Milwaukee had to face Peavy and Young in back to back games. The Padres are the 27 Yankees next to that pathetic Reds team that we lost a series to.

I'd say losing 5 of 6 to a bad Astros team and a pathetic Reds team would be melting down.

Chris Young is TERRIBLE this year.

i'm honestly more frustrated by this upsurge in terrible posters than i am by the cubs struggles.

This board has an underlying smarminess/smugness that is most unpleasant.

In particular the poster you just quoted.

You are crazy if you think the Padres lineup is better than the Reds lineup we just faced. Its not even close really. Young has been terrible this year. The Astros are one of the hottest teams in baseball and we had to face Oswalt as well, and 2 of our best pitchers arent pitching.

You have to love the ever present, head in the sand apologists that are always ready to add their excellent insight.

The Cubs lost like that today and here they are, offering little as usual, other then getting their post count up.

anyone who lets this little losing streak get them bent out of shape is basically not even worth explaining things to.

This is the same team that caught fire two weeks ago. Same strengths and same weaknesses. It's a coach cliche, but you're never as good as you look when you win and you're never as bad as you look when you lose.

everyone stressing out because we've lost a few games recently are just the type of annoying, more-comfortable-losing fans that i wish liked another team.

As the great Woody Paige likes to say on that crappy show "Around the Horn" "LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE!!" The Cubs play a solid Cardinals team who they should beat 2 out of 3. They play a Houston team that leads the season series against us. They play a good Mets team. They play a good Brewers team. These are the teams (the Reds) that the Cubs are suppose to beat and they failed to do so and it's making us all worried. I don't know how anyone is not a little bit nervous about this team.

I'm just glad the Brewers picked now to go on a long slump because it's saved us for now. I still personally think this team will make the playoffs but it is going to be much harder than I originally thought.
